What was your first character, anon?

Mine was an augmented elven street-samurai.
>>
an augmented dwarven street-samurai name Tyber
>>
>>320981283
my first character was a fire spell focused shaman (or mage, can't remember) called Dante
then they pulled the same joke with the fucking hellhound
>>
Ork Shaman nicknamed punchy. He punched things and then got an axe and punched things with that.
>>
An augmented dwarven Rigger/Decker.
>>
Physical Adept Troll names Ash.
I always play punch women whenever possible.
>>
human hacker with corporate talky and a pistol
>>
I want to fuck Eiger.

Elven mage with maxed out charisma.
Vidya is all about escapism dammit.
>>
Elf Gunslinger. Pistols and baggy coats only.
>>
>>320981283

Non-augmented human street samurai who was good at shooting.

Yes. The average Hollywood hero style
>>
The first one (as in Shadowrun remake) was so bland that I can't even remember it. I even finished it with that first character.
>>
Human decker
I actually could not imagine playing this game as anything other than a decker
>>
>>320982125
I was thinking about creating a Decker Gunslinger, is it fun?
>>
Shadowrun Returns: Decker pistols
Shadowrun Dragonfall: Decker rifle
Shadowrun Hong Kong: Decker monofilament whip. The whip was a fun weapon.
Think all of them were elves.
>>
I'm actually gonna start playing right now for the first time.
Gonna make a human decker and call him Wilson the Hotdogger.
>>
>>320982105
Shit, like Van Damme in Cyborg?
>>
In Dragonfall my first character was a human decker named DeadLine.

My Hong Kong character was a troll street-samurai named Grox. Super augmented. Used razor claws. This character was really fun to play.
>>
Why are there suddenly so many Shadowrun threads?
>>
Elf Decker
Holy fuck I'm always broke and I need to escort this cyber troll thing back out of this fucking building
>>
>>320983689
>razor claws
Are those in the previous games too? And are we talking Molly-like retractile claws or always on grotesque shits which make it impossible to move around?
>>
>>320982286
God, that fucking whip

I don't care that it was technically a bug and overpowered, it was great getting buffed by teammates and just charging in and whipping everyone to death singlehandedly
>>
>>320983914
Yeah, it was so much fun. I was set on getting the whip no matter how bad it would be, but it's always great when you unintentionaly find a op weapon.
>>
Which is the order in which the games should be played?
>>
>>320984406
2->3 or 3->2 I guess. With the exception of a named characters thats pops in to say hi, and a few referances in the news and such, there isnt any real connections between the stories.
>>
>>320984406
original Shadowrun Returns never
Dragonfall Director's Cut
then Hong Kong
>>
Which Shadowrun should I start with? Never played one but I've played loads of cRPGs back in the day
>>
>>320984574
>>320984609
Is returns that bad?
>>
>>320981283
>What was your first character, anon?

Mage, because that's literally the only thing your companions don't have covered. And reading auras is fu-OHGODNOPLEASEGODNOMAKEITSTOP.

It's not the worst game you'll ever play but it's entirely forgettable and the last bits get really frustrating. Dragonfall is where it got much better, with actually decent NPCs and a home base kind of quest hub you return to and a bit of variety in mission choice instead of just being 100% linear
>>
>>320981283
>dragonfall
human street sam with a shotgun and a katana

Nah, it's just obviously their first effort and it shows. Dragonfall DC is actually built for PC so you don't have to battle the UI half the time, but I did like some of SRR's low-key story until it goes full retard. It's a decent introduction to Shadowrun.

That last fight, though. AI was doing some serious cheating there.
>>
So I can play a fantasy race while being an augmented mage hacker in this?
>>
>>320985823
Yeah, you just can't go full Technomage because technological implants pretty much eat away at your soul.
>>
SRR: Elf Adept after my first tabletop Shadowdrun character.

Dragonfall: Troll-decker/rigger.

Hong Kong: Human Street Sam with as much cyberware as I could cram.
>>
A Face type dude with an assault rifle.

Dragonfall is really generous with Karma. My character absolutely wrecked shit with just his rifle, and I had high enough attributes + Biotech and Decking that I could pass almost every conversation check in the game that wasn't magic-related.
>>
>>320985902
how good is magic compared to technology?
>>
>no porn of Eiger

JUST
>>
>>320981283
unfortunately i rolled dwarf shaman

2nd run went much better with ork and his AK 47
>>
>>320986065
Dunno, never played a mage or a Shaman for that matter.
Technology is pretty good tho, and helps a lot considering the setting.

To be fair there's a lot of cheating overall, which is the only way an AI can "outsmart" a player in a turn based game

The one I hate the most is:
>several encounters in succession
>unlucky rolls
>barely make it through
>just need to get to the exit
>end turn
>LOL REINFORCEMENTS
>two party members get downed by grenade launcher
>>
Is there any way of killing the big ass Orc in the prologue?
>>
>>320986065
Its not very reliable, you have to be on a lay line for the money shots.
Buffs are alright though.
>>
>>320986408
I mean, troll, fug.
>>
>>320986408

Unless they changed that in the DC (didn't try), you can make him flee, but I don't think he can be killed.
>>
>>320986065
Shaman AoE healing totem is amazing. Buff are also good.
>>
>>320981283
This one and return are on sale on humble store right now. Should I?
>>
Ork Shaman who mostly specialised in shotguns and only really cast spells to fist things.
I rp'd him as a gruff old war veteran with a good heart

he retreats when injured

I had a nice elvish decker/rifle-gal. Focused a bit on face skills, but mostly sniped and hacked a lot.

Wanted to try something different than my shotgunner from Returns, because that was so OP it was absurd. But I felt like rifles were pretty OP in this game as well. I was really happy with decking though, glad they actually included it in this game.

Returns was an awful, buggy mess that I can't recommend to anybody. DF was pretty stellar, enough to forgive the few bugs I ran into. Looking forward to playing Hong Kong sometime soon.

>>320984709
>Is returns that bad?
Yes. I wasn't even able to finish it because it kept glitching out at the last boss fight, and LOL AUTOSAVES. Worth skipping, to say the least.
>>
>>320986853
What's the deal here, there's like 5 games on the store
>>
>>320987056
You can actually save manually now. Although that entire end-game part with Harlequin was garbage.
>>
>>320981283

Looked silly
>>
>>320987197
As mentioned in the thread, get Hong-kong and Dragonfall.
Returns is an okay game, but the other two are just better overall

For all three games, the idea was a human face-man type with charisma out the ass, capable enough with a pistol but not really a lot of firepower. The class I picked also got leveled up fairly well - decker in Returns and Dragonfall, rigger in Hong Kong (pic related - from my time replaying Returns in the Hong Kong engine, but the character was basically the same in Hong Kong). Hong Kong was really nice because I got lucky on the etiquettes I picked and managed to breeze through a lot of things through charisma.

I'll have to try some other classes or races some day, but so far, I'm pretty happy with the archetype I've got going. I like the talky type.
>>
>>320981283
Is it true that you can fuck Eiger in Dragonfall?
>>
>>320987494
Unhapilly, no.
>>
>>320987465
Is that a stock portrait? I don't remember it but it's pretty OK.
Spent hours trying to find a good enough portrait for my character in every SR game because the stock ones looked like ass.
>>
>>320987874

It's stock for Hong Kong - there's a lot of Kickstarter backers that got made into portraits, and there's a few decent ones in there.
>>
>>320987248
Enough people complained about it that I figured it would be implemented sooner or later. But don't be surprised when I tell you I'll never be replaying it, so doesn't really change my opinion of the game. The autosave thing wouldn't have even bothered me if the game wasn't a glitchy shitpile.
