the reason TTGL was so impactful as an anime was how much you couldn't help the team. you just had to watch and hope that they would make it through. playing, either as PvP or PvE, as an open-world MMO or a beat-em-up of galactic proportions, would be a step down (assuming they stick to the original plot).
