Never played any of Bethesda's games before , but hear combat and controls were much improved in fallout 4.

I'm playing Fallout 4 with the explicit motive of getting so tired of it I can get back into NV.
I accidentally over 300 hours in NV and now I'm struggling to go back to it.

Play Fallout 4 first if you want to enjoy it. You can still go back and play NV later because its strong suit is not its gameplay, unlike Fallout 4.
Playing NV first will just make Fallout 4 seem like a shallow mess.

Fallout 4 has the structure of a much better game but they didn't go anywhere with it. The gameplay is fun for a while but the quests are so boring that you tire of it quickly
