By the way, you don't need to be hit by anything to get that debuff. All that enemy has to do is to look at you for it to build up. You can stop the buildup by breaking vision but it still builds up for a few seconds after. It also takes a while for it to decrease.

Frenzy doesn't stop until the shit's dead. There's an animation for sedatives so it doesn't cure frenzy immediately. Plus the build is really fast unless you're wearing frency runes/resist gear.
The brain fuckers also damage you slowly and immediately use a wide grab attack the moment they see you.
They're not impossible but they're definitely not easy.

spend all of your echoes if you're not planning on using them to level up on tonnes of blood vials and quicksilver bullets so you don't have to go through the hassle of going through early levels to stock up again, and spend your insight on bolt/fire paper or shaman blades if you do pvp because it's fun to fuck with people. it's not fun but it's probably the best use for them unfortunately.

There are 3 main types of builds in this game: physical (subsets are strength / skill / quality, but that's mincing words at this point), bloodtinge, and arcane. There are also "hybrids" among these, but you're just gimping your character.
Physical is good for a first playthrough. Bloodtinge builds should be avoided. That leaves arcane builds for experienced players and high-level PvP.
The game practically hits you over the head with this. Arcane builds rely on rare blood gems to function, and it just so happens that arcane raises item discovery. Arcane builds also require a greater knowledge of the game's fundamentals. They're perfect for more seasoned players.
BTW, the AR on arcane items is a lie. You're always hitting enemies weak to your element, so you're effectively always doing double damage. Fire and bolt weapons are awesome.

Well, my first run was a 50-skill BoM build. Honestly, it was overall easier than my arcane build with gemmed Whirligig, Ludwig, and Parasite of Kos.
I do hit harder on my latter build, but it overall took more time and effort to obtain and manage my elemental gems. Tools also suck at only 50 ARC, but you can't go above 50 ARC on a PvP build.

i'm pretty sure the difference between pure physical and pure arcane isn't at all big, i think arcane might have a larger damage on something like ludwigs but the arcane weapons people use now like the moonlight greatsword benefit more from physical i think. i can't remember how it works but i see most people who are rocking arc builds use physical gems
