Why does nobody talk about this game?
>>
I see it now and then, but /v/ mostly talks about recent stuff / events / and other crap

go to /vr/
>>
>>320898992
wasn't translated. why would anyone?
>>
>>320898992

It's too obscure for most people given it wasn't localized.
>>
>>320899231
but it's been translated since 2008
>>
It got overshadowed by Chrono Trigger hard. I'm surprised Square even remembered it existed and put it up on the WiiU's VC for its 20th anniversary,

Shame, Tokita has been wanting to remake it for years.

>>320899231

It was, just not officially
>>

do you live under the rock or something
>>
>>320898992
Because its a JRPG and its retro pixel shit.
>>

shrug. about 14 years too late.

That would apply if the game wasn't from 1994
>>
Live A Live is a legit 10/10 game
>>
>>320898992

You wanna talk? Ok let's talk who has the best chapter and why is it Cube?
>>
>>320899578
>cube
>not Masaru

You can't handle not-Ryu with not-Ken's theme in his own megaman game
>>
Oersted did nothing wrong.
>>

>>
>>320899418
Bahamut Lagoon when?
>>
>>320899578
Cube's chapter works for only your first playthrough. After that all the tension and horror is gone and you're just running the right corridors for an hour until the chapter is finished.
>>
>>320899518
>not just following romhacking.net news with their periodical updates on all translations posted, and occasionally seeing "oh shit, I wanted to play that"
>>
>>320899743

Correct, Oersted himself did nothing wrong, he was just dealt a shitty hand over and over. Odio did everything wrong.
>>
>>320898992
This shit was ridiculously hard. I don't think I was able to complete any one of the lives.

The cowboy level, holy fuck.
>>
>>320899823
>"oh shit, I wanted to play that"

wanted to, anon. when it came out. literally 21 years ago.

normal people move on. even semi-normal people.
>>
>>320899904
>hard

Are you serious? A good deal of the chapters let you outright grind and destroy the challenge. The only hard things are fighting Max Morgan without Abise-Geri or doing a no-kill run with Oboro (and even that you can cheese with killing the ghosts).

>>320899969

Time is just a number. I don't let the years change my desire to play something when I finally can.
>>
>>320900112
>Time is just a number.
Actually time is an abstact concept that only exists because we believe it to.
>>
>>320900112
I just remember failing repeatedly on the cowboy level and said fuck it.

/v/ will hate me for saying this, but use a guide. There's literally no way to know how to do that chapter correctly unless you're told to.

If you do it correctly, the traps will take out everyone but the boss himself.

Ohhh shit I saw Vinesauce stream this a few years ago. This game is dope
>>
>>320900986

such garbage streamers that used to be good there.
>>
>>320900660
After a quick search I couldn't find the example I was looking for on youtube.
But I'm sure you remember what I was talking about. The fight with about 50 enemies + a boss. I had no fucking idea what was going on there.
>>
>>320901105
I don't get why people use /v/ to complain about streamers and youtubers. I'll never understand it, just don't watch.
>>
>>320901131

That's the only fight in the chapter.

The more enemies the traps take out, the less guys you have to fight.
>>
>>320901354
Ah so I guess I was just doing it wrong.

It's impossible to kill all the enemies and the boss in the actual fight right?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_nZsK_YVwk&list=PLF58BCBB7C4AAB09C&index=32

Found a let's play and saw he was only fighting the boss, then went back to the other parts and he was going around killing guys out of combat.

I honestly don't think I tried any of the lives other than cowboy. Lmao.
>>
>>320901263
I get mad when streamers i used to like start to do it for the money. i dont care that they make money, but when its blatant, it can be really obvious and fucking annoying. Joel from vinesauce is a perfect example, every stream is either bootlegs, le bob ross or now undertale. He very obviously streamed undertale because he caved in to tumblrina pressure and wanted to make a quick buck. His streams are bland and PG despite him originating on /v/. Just today i check his stream and he's doing another fucking undertale game. This self proclaimed metalhead and tough guy going right for the tumblr kiddie audience. $$$

I dont complain often about youtubers and streamers, but it just sucks when your favorite becomes such a big sellout. Its so obvious he does what he does for the attention and money these days. I just want him to chill and play some video games and stop trying to make the kiddies laugh with forced jokes and rollercoasters crashing and sims dick jokes. Theres only so many times you can distort a sim's face before it stops being funny. Definitely far from where he started and sad, but he'll never care because hes just getting bigger and bigger so he'll keep doing what hes doing with no regard. I think this is why so many youtubers and streamers go to shit.
>>
>>320901557

I think the best case scenario is there's just one guy helping the boss, and you can kill him easily.

Also make sure to switch Mad Dog and Sundown's equipment since Mad Dog's are newer and better, and only Sundown goes into the final chapter.
>>
>>320901707
I have such vague memories of the game. But I for some reason I remember being immediately thrown into an unwinnable fight with the boss and his 20 cronies. It's been so long since I played it though.
>>
>>320901638

Mostly this. The only streamer I watch that I feel like never sold out is Protonjon, and that's probably because his day job causes him to stream so little.

>>320901879

There's always the other chapters to do instead. The Kung Fu one is really good for beginners. Just make sure that whoever you choose to train of the 3 pupils, pump EVERYTHING into that one student. It'll save you tons of headache.
>>
>>320901638
I thought he streamed Undertale because Toby Fox reached out to him?
>>
>>320902083
$$$
>>
>>320902001
>his day job
A good thing to keep note of is that if a streamer no longer has a day job because of streaming, they've sold out. They can't make the money otherwise.
>>
It's aged like cheese, which isn't good for a game that american's only got in 2008.
>>
Straybow did nothing wrong.
>>
>>320898992
>Why does nobody talk about this game?
There's not much to complain about.
Aside from the terrible final chapter, it's a great game.
>>
>>320902173
Lets hope none of these streamers dropped out of college to stream because when the bubble bursts and they have no skills and qualifications, life is gonna suck
>>
>>320902297

I don't think it's aged that badly.

But I understand why Tokita said he'd want to update the gameplay for a remake.

>>
>>320898992

The game is decent but there's not too much to talk about, really, most of the characters are simple. The stories are generally predictable enough that you can guess their outcome if you have any familiarity with the genre they base themselves on (with one exception, you know which one). There's not too much to discuss with gameplay either since it's pretty basic aside from a few parts like Oboro's story, which is peppered with a bunch of secrets and alternate routes.
>>
>>320903229

True.

That being said, it was made with a lot of love. It was basically one big love letter to all the stuff the developers loved.
>>

Yeah, the gimmick with the cowboy level is that you use the traps beforehand to decrease the amount of henchmen during the boss fight. You definitely don't need to trap all the henchmen to win, but you probably need to trap a whole bunch of them.

Besides that, the Medieval chapter had cringeworthy dialogue, but maybe that's that point and it's actually a faithful localization.

I had an uneasy feeling the whole Knight chapter.

Forgive me for hating reading retarded comments about RPGs anon.
>>320907034
There are a lot of shittier RPGs on the SNES anon. Come on, that's just unfair. And the individual character stories have their own strengths. Not a whole lot of time is spent in any of them, yeah, but what little time that's spent its amazing how easy it is to get attached to some of the characters and how scenes of tragedy come out so strong with so little time. The combat was also unique, and I don't think there's a game out there quite like it. Sure, its sub-par gameplay wise but its a breath of fresh air amidst its same-y peers.
