Seriously, it's like companies design the console first and the games as an afterthought. It's pretty standard knowledge that you have to wait until 1-2 years into a modern console's lifespan in order to get games of any quality

The Dreamcast had good ones, if you consider it as sixth gen. Sonic Adventure, Power Stone, Soulcalibur, and House of the Dead 2 are all good. Gamecube wasn't terrible either, with Super Monkey Ball and Luigi's Mansion being standouts.
