"Until Dawn" yay or nay?

>>
It's a movie.
It has no replay value.
The "endings" are shit.
>>
I didn't like it, there's actually very few things that your choices effect. It's mostly an extra line of dialogue.

Every character can only die at a certain point (some of them always live to the very end) and Josh always dies or turns into a wendigo
>>
>>320881435
every character can die though.
>>
>>320880573
It wasn't a very good movie, heavy rain did it better. Watch it on youtube if you're curious.
>>
>>320880573

Yay.

Overall, I liked it, but I bought it being fully prepared that I may only play it one time.

I tried to stay away from spoilers and walkthroughs. Lucky me I made my characters get through alive the first time (are QTEs hard?)
I mean, if you think its a serious game or something then you will be dissapointed. Its a more glorified point and click with neat choices and dialogue options that do make a difference in responses.

The story is pretty neat as well. I get scared easy, but it had a good use of atmosphere and tension. Good interactive experience/movie. I wish we'd get more of this stuff since I like visual novels and interactive choose your own adventure stuff.

Watch this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eytOzwyfiCA

If you think that's fucking awesome then yes, go into it as blind as possible
>>
It's good if you judge it as an interactive movie, it's really fucking good, at least as good as Cabin in the Woods.
Judging it as a game? I don't know. Haven't played it, just watched it on youtube several times.
Not sure about it. I think we have to except more of these movie games and just rate them as games. You can go all day about how this game isn't a game, how it doesn't have enough gameplay etc, but it's not like it's trying to be game. It's like playing a blueray movie on your PS4 and whining that it's a movie. It's fucking silly. Just say that it's a good or bad movie, and I think Until Dawn is a really good movie.
>>
>>320883570
Yup. That's a yay. Thanks.

Also, not so much fucking awesome as really fucking interesting.
>>
>>320884175

It is a very interesting game.
>>
>>320880573
Burning out from Bloodborne, any PS4 bros got any reconmendations for what to play next?
>>
>>320883570
>>320884175
That shit has nothing to do with the game.
The game is basically you walking around with a FUNY FUNY sidekick telling jokes without any horror or anything.
You just walk around and then the AI girl will say something like ''look out for that enemy, he will mess up your electronics!'' and you'll character will wisecrack ''Sheeet, just what I need, more fucking electronic enemies, sheeet nigga''.
Frictional Games fucked up hard on this game.
>>
>>320884953
>and your character will respond "durr, electronics? what are electronics?" because he's a fucking moron and can't piece things together
And that video's pretty relevant, you're just somehow denser than the main character.
>>
>>320884035
The biggest problem is you are being charged a game's price 60 bucks for a movie's content 20 bucks.

If untill dawn and say heavy rain sold for 20 bucks as an interactive movie then you'd have far less complaints.

Instead they are sold are full priced games with a fraction of the content and gameplay. It's no wonder people get pissed cause it's a rip off.
>>
>>320885216
The fuck are you even on about, retard?
>>
I know /v/ loves the shit out of The Walking Dead and Life is Memes, and Until Dawn is way better than both those shit shows. There's actual exploration, you can alter relationships, and holy shit, there's actually a game over screen.

I don't see how console faggots get to complain about pricing. You bought a console, you play on a console, who cares that you have to pay 60 cucks for Until Dawn? Console cucks are more than happy to pay 60 cucks for Uncharted games.

instead of just button-mashing to bail yourself out and forcing you to do the most obvious crap this game actually requires you to pay attention.

this game may not be a great storytelling game, but it's mechanics are a step in the right direction. I hope other games learn from Until Dawn.

>sometimes doing nothing is the best solution
>the game doesn't forget what you did in previous chapters
>game rewards you for taking risks and punishes you for playing too safe
>>
A movie game made by B-list and under directors/writers who couldn't make it into Hollywood because they sucked fat major balls which didn't get them money.

So a group of them decided that the next best thing was to move to the next best medium.

Videogames.

It's a bit logical in terms of money/income.

But they are full blown retarded and should never touch the videogame industry again.

This is the objective truth.
>>
It is a really good game. As a lover of B-horror movies, I loved the shit out of it.

Hopefully it will get an indirect sequel.
>>
>>320886551
you didn't see any of the movies they made in the theater room?

The House of The Devil is great

Depends on the price. It's probably worth $20 if you like this sort of shit, but it's in no way worth $60. Honestly if they didn't have the wendigo shit and it was just about pranks the entire game, I'd like it more.

I feel like they could have created something amazing if they didn't stick so hard with the "just like my popcorn slasher movies" and youtuber bait moments
Some places/moments feel right and you keep waiting for the game to be clever like a old SH game would but it never happens.

PS4 bro here.

-The Last of Us: Remastered

If you haven't played it already, DO IT. Great gameplay, amazing story, good online.

-Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

If you have already played Uncharted this might sound kind of, "Meh". But I'd recommend at least renting it to recap on previous events before Uncharted 4 comes out. The game really does look better and they definitely somewhat improved the shitty combat mechanics from the first one.

-Project Cars

Amazing racing simulator. Tons of great content and there's a plethroa of cusomization.

If you are a fan of these two series, I'm sure you already have them but:

-Grand Theft Auto V (the online is really good now, they improved a lot over the past year.)

and

-Fall Out 4

This game speaks for itself.

-Until Dawn

It has a really good story, but don't get this expecting anything other than it is, an interactive movie.

-Star Wars: Battle Front

Before somebody tears me a new a one for even mentioning this game, it is good for an EA game but it's disappointing if you are a fan of the previous Battlefronts.

If you like the genre: yea

I don't like the genre or anime but I still didn't hate the game, if that means anything to you.
>>
>>320889048
Yea. But I've only played the Vita version. Going to buy physical kat some time.
>>
>>320887049
Why though? A Wendigo is pretty fresh for a monster type. I liked it. Plus that design was great.
>>
I actually just got platinum on the game after buying it black friday for $20. The whole platinum experience took 12 hours.

Most of the choices you make in the game really don't matter much, they'll mostly just open a new line of dialogue here and there or change the way a certain character reacts around another character. There are a handful that can actually determine if a character dies. There's one specific butterfly effect choice that makes it impossible for a certain character to survive automatically. There's also a character that lives if you find one generic and one specific kind of collectible related to another character. All other character deaths are the result of a choice of action, failed QTE, or moving your controller when you're told to stay still.

I thought the story was interesting enough. It was kind of obvious from the start that the person you're led to believe is the killer, but unless you collect every clue and pay close attention to the details they provide about the backstory, you probably won't realize who the true antagonist of the game is. My first playthrough, I collected all the clues and everyone survived. Once you complete the credits you can select an episode to go back to and play it differently. Even though you've collected the clues it won't count unless you physically collect them again, which is key for a couple of butterfly effects.

Definitely not a full price game but for $20 I was satisfied.
