>having to pay to play online
>having to pay to play
I used to think PSN+ was worth it but the free games became really crappy
>the day will come where you need a subscription to use your hardware even offline

>pay to play online
>servers shut down permanently
Such is the transient nature of life.
>having to be online to play sp
>PC thinks they're so smart because they don't have to pay for online
>have to deal with awful servers and a typically unmoderated audience of hackers, bots, etc
>Xbox/PS4 players get shit on for paying for online
>majority of the games have some level of moderation, better servers and more long-lasting support from developers
>Nintendo players think they're relevant
It comes down to how much bullshit you're willing to put up with, imo. And of course you get the weird outliers like Dark Souls where the online experience is always trash regardless of platform.

>he thinks hacking on consoles doesn't exist
Remember this shit? Pretty much every kid was hacking it. It all depends on how popular the game is.

>50 years later
>gaming is now so mainstream that it now has its own tax that everyone has to pay
>playing online
>>320861189
>offline single player and offline couch co-op is exclusive to the console version
>>320861463
Well we're already seeing a multitude of game streaming sites, as in actually playing the streamed game (I still have no idea how this works).
>>320861395
if the console doesn't have piracy yet, and the devs use encryption for their netcode (so proxies can't fuck things up easily) -- it can be mostly eliminated, or at least delayed until no one cares
>>320861195
If a game has unmoderated online it probably wouldn't be worth playing any way
>>320860470
>buy game
>there's no singleplayer
>or if there is it's just offline multiplayer with bots
>>320860470
SHUT UP
I GET FREE GAMES
>>320860651
I told you so.
>>320861780
it doesn't work unless the server is pretty much next door (even in-home streaming isn't that good), or you're playing a turn-based game
we'd literally need FTL communication for it to be good on longer distance (increasing bandwidth doesn't improve input response), not to mention there's a lot of overhead that's not going away easily

You know what triggers me about Xbox Live and PSN?
The fact that 70% of my library for 7th gen has online features taxed on and finding a player for any game that isn't Halo 3 or Black Ops II is impossible. It's literally a dead feature.
>tfw have games for co-op but the majority requires you to play online with strangers instead of inviting your friends over for some comfy couch co-op
What's the point
The only time I've ever interacted with my accounts is to buy more DLC for the games I like.
And to top it off, games and DLC that are exclusive to online don't last forever and be taken off whenever a license expires or whenever a dev feels like it's not profitable anymore
tldr: Online subscriptions are shit and a cancer
>Have to pre-order to unlock something already in the game
Why are they so evil?
>>320860470
I pay PS+ for the monthly games
I shit you not, a friend of mine is getting a PS4 in April, but made a PS+ account yesterday to start accumulating the "freebies"
You should pay your ISP anon, before you get in trouble.
>>320863323
Would you say they're monsters?
>>320860651
>Free games
>Pay money
>to receive "Free games"
>You lose access to them if you end your subscription
Yo dawg, I heard if you pay this Company Netflix $10 a month, you get unlimited movies and TV shows. FOR FREE!!!
>>320860890
They tried that.
>>320863507
No I wouldn't say that
>>320863323
Would you say it's overrated shit?
do you not pay for your own internet?
>>320863783
>paying for PSN means you don't pay for your internet
>>320863719
No because we aren't talking about ur mom
>>320863783
>On Xbox and Playstation you have to not only pay your ISP, you have to pay Microsoft and Sony to play online when most games use P2P networking anyway
>>320863783
Don't be an idiot. Everyone pays for their internet. Xbone/PS4 users pay extra for game servers.
>>320861195
>have to deal with awful servers and a typically unmoderated audience of hackers, bots
Do you come from a different universe?
>>320863868
>consoles
Lol, nevermind
>>320864034
