It's been progressing really slowly, mostly due to work being exhausting around christmas. I'm hoping after christmas some of that energy might come back.

I've mostly been improving my own quality of life experience when it comes to working on the game, so nothing exciting new to show off.

Building a multiplayer text based RPG from the ground up in C for fun. Currently it can load some assets, and I have methods which will allow connection to the server once we actually implement them.

Poorly. Tried to implement an entity-component framework for the monogame engine I'm trying to make and I royally fucked up. Some guy on AGDG gave me a few useful articles and now I'm starting over again.

What about them? Music is the easy part. Even if you don't know shit you can easily rip melodies from various songs, mix them together, change the pitch and instruments and boom you have your own song and no one will know. Sound effects might be hard an you'd need to hire a voice actor if you are making a good game, but if you are making "retro" trash you can use random 8-bit noises and no one will complain.
