Can someone explain to me why kids love edge so much? I don't understand the appeal of the "dark knight" or "ninja" all black, black hair, black everything with red trim fascination.

If so I'm okay with being edgy, grimdark is a cool setting. Also consider that "edgy" was a reaction to media being very unrealistic, clean and inoffensively whitebread. In film culture the movie Clerks if often seen as a turning point for movies as it was successful on the basis of it feeling "real". Grunge music, Marilyn Manson, etc. Rejection of puritanical values.

The morals during the 1980s and 70s were christian values and ignorance of everything else. I looked up to 1990s musicians as people being there for me when no one else would be.
