MGS2 had a story that went above and beyond the limitations of being a standard sort of hollywood-action-movie inspired game. MGS3 was great, don't get me wrong, but it was very simple and direct to the point. The ending moment with the Boss is great, but there are a few plot elements that are ignored for the sake of the story. Replay the games and reevaluate, it's not a crazy opinion.
