I don't hate reddit for it's content, I hate it for it's laziness. People are searching for the best time:upboat ratio and a lot determine a tiny amount of time spent will typically generate a moderate upboat response, that's a decent ratio with no effort required.
I hate it for it's 'rating' system and the circlejerk it causes, ruining peoples ability to defend a point because doing so gets you punished.

FFXI used to do this. You would start fading to a black screen, then get pulled back into the game with an "Event cancelled" notification.
You could also be hit during the very beginning of a loading screen as your character wasn't out of the zone yet, and be dead on the other side.
