let's see
>better speech check system that isn't randomized and can be exploited through save scumming
>SPECIAL is now used in dialog checks
>skills are now used in dialog checks
>low intelligence actually has an impact on what you can say
>perks every other level lead to a much better and balanced progression
>perks are better balanced (Grim Reaper's Sprint nerf for example)
>much more perks
>better DLC overall (mothership zeta and operation anchorage are pure shit, OWB is the best there is)
>no repetitive tedious metro tunnels
>companions actually have personality
>companions all have sidequests
>better written main story
>branching main story
>faction system
>disguise system
>weapon mods
>ammo crafting
>more skills
>can make food, water and drugs with survival
>hardcore mode which enables several things that should be default like Stimpacks healing over time and ammo having weight
>more consistent game world and world building
>better shooting
>iron sights
>Jury Rigging
>better soundtrack
>melee weapons and unarmed are much more fleshed out
if you prefer 3 over NV you might be mentally retarded. The only concrete defense I see is "the experience is better" but that's completely subjective, ruined by the metro tunnels and doesn't matter when there's a complete wasteland 200 years after the bombs dropped which doesn't even make sense.
No shit
I'm not commenting out these points you make because I'm not autistic, but
>better speech check system that isn't randomized and can be exploited through save scumming
This barely matters, if you savescum its your own fault.
>perks every other level lead to a much better and balanced progression
Disagree. Perks can be balanced to be acquired every level and its usually better to have more things to choose when you level up.
>companions actually have personality
Too many shitty personalities though, like the dyke felicia day, the faggot doctor and the lolsorandumb super mutant tranny.
I agree with most of the rest and I don't think anyone actually considers FO3 better than FNV. FO4 is better at the gameplay department though.

It's not a sequel, its a spin off, and sequels are rarely better than their originals.

>bug fixes

>mods that restore cut content, or remove stupid content already in game (like the invisible walls, the preorder bonuses are not given to you straight away)
Everything else is entirely dependent on what you want out of it. I tend to go for things which expand on content or restore things I felt were needed in the vanilla game. I avoid anything that is immersion breaking.
Everything else is option

A random side faction that you can completely avoid and don't run into unless you go out of your way has more detailed story than any of the main factions in 4.

Honestly the powder gangers are more fleshed out than any fallout 4 faction.

I'm honestly not sure what you mean to imply with that post
Fallout NV has a proper ending like how most of the Fallouts do, mainly because your actions would probably have far reaching consequences that the games can't properly show after the ending
Fallout 4 continuing after the ending and all the settlements raising a little flag of the faction you chose is just proof of how little involvement the story has on the world

Oh, and there was that one movie with wolves I've been meaning to see.

>>320747018
>being this much of an eleitist
yeah, in the grand scheme NV is likely a better game, but why does that matter? The nature of RPG's is that they tend to be less fun an subsequent playthroughs and im pretty sure most of us have played NV to death that this point.
So at that point of course Fallout 4 is going to seem better because its new and fresh and you are able to get that feeling of discovery again. Its the same reason peopel go out and watch new movies rather than sit aroundand watch casablanca or citizen kane over and over again. Objective quality is often trumped by the newness of an experience when it comes to enjoyability.
Only reason why new Vegas had so much content is that was basically one graphics glitch away from a text adventure.

What the FUCK
>>320756530
I like the explanation in that pic. Sums up everything wrong with every Beth game afteroblivion.
In Fo3 you have:
- city built around a radioactive bomb (using airplane parts, why not just use the airport ruins)
- city built inside a giant ship (makes logical sense, but fuck it was impleteled badly. There are almost no civilians in rivet city and the hangar isn't large enough for airplanes)
- city built inside the pentagon (which, in theory, should be a crater)
- city built way up on top of a freeway overpass (there's no water or ability to grow food up there)
- water purifier built into the jefferson memorial (doesn't make any sense, especially when there's a water plant further north up the river, just south of the freeway overpass)
Fo4 is marginally better in this regard, as the Minutemen's headquarters is a generic suburb (Sanctuary), the RR underneath a ruined church (though how they got their original HQ, a DISA office, makes no sense), the BoS an airship docked at an airport, and CIT underneath CIT. What doesn't make sense though is all the actual lore (especially everything behind CIT) that attempts to try to tie it all together.
>>320756936
Karma is subjective.
It makes a lot more sense to have companions dislike actions than have some magical unseen force deciding what you're doing is bad.

The second main quest in Fallout 4 is you taking the MM from a literal themepark (the museum of history in concord) to sanctuary. What I don't get, is why they don't stay in the MoH even though it's more secure than sanctuary, and Concord has water access (you can go into the sewers, the door to them is easy to miss). Concord itself always stuck me as strange because like Nahant it's an actual city but nobody seems to live in it for some reason, even though it would be easy to defend (by walling off the streets).

At average -15 to -20 DT, AP rounds are fucking great for everything short of power armor enemies (Which you fight at most one faction of once in base game) and I THINK high level Deathclaws, but I don't remember if that's due to a mod or not.
That's the bgi thing with NV, alternate round times are in most cases BETTER than their base types in every way - HP rounds can fuck up just about everything with singleshot guns and AP rounds are great for automatic weapons.
I try not to go autistic over people who prefer 3 but I'll never understand it, in my eyes NV is just a better version of that game

It makes more sense if you remember the original bits of lore from Fo1. Basically, preceding the great war was also plauges going around killing everyone. This resulted in a hugely increased demand for automation, most bots running off uranium (or batteries). However, the regular person still had gas powered cars (the common fusion ones is beth's shit writing), so when oil prices spiked the economy collapsed even harder.
Anyway, at the end of it the military had nicer tech than civilians, so it makes sense that some of their bots were nuclear powered. Mr. Handys were luxury appliances, like the Corvega was too. If Beth had any respect for the original lore they wouldn't have run over this in Fo3 and Fo4. I also don't get the Mr Handy fuel thing either, because they're clearly not powered by propane (or whatever it is) and they don't drop nuclear material (as opposed to Mr Gutsys).

There's a mod that makes ammo crafting components part of the loot tables, so you can find them in boxes and whatnot. Might incentivize people to make more ammo? The major gameplay changing mods (Vicious Wastes, Project Nevada, etc.) have methods of controlling ammo drop rates too.

At least your pursuit of the chip and Benny ties into the theme of "Not letting go."
None of the factions like the Legion or Brotherhood want to let go of the past. Hell, even minor groups like the White Gloves or Powder Gangers want to let go of their pasts as cannibals or criminals.
The Zion Mormons don't want to let go of their faith, Elijah doesn't want to let go of pursuing what's in the Sierra Madre. Mr. House is obsessed with remaking the glory days of his Vegas and surpassing them. I could go on and on.
I found New Vegas more personal because I could make my own character how I'd like and have them do things in reaction to NPCs/Factions. In Fallout 3 I felt more lead by the hand with the main story.

Holy shit this. Fucking NOBODY ever comments that the main theme of New Vegas is not being able to let go of the past.
Boone - Couldn't get over his wife/Bitter Springs
Veronica - Elijah
Cass - Her caravan
Arcade - The Enclave
Raul - His time as the gunslinger/his sister
Lily - Her memories of her grandkids
Nearly every faction and nearly every character has this theme and I barely see it mentioned. The reason Dead Money is one of my favourites is because of how heavily it utilises the theme
>>320768497
With the right perks, skills and hollow point rounds I am currently pumping out 149 damage per shot, x 149 by 6 = 894. Fuckin' really? Legion is morally grey as shit. Except trading hubs are placed in locations that are either strategic or massive centers of production anyways.
Megaton isn't strategic since it isn't by anything, and we don't hear it talked about as a major trading hub.
Rivet City at least made sense, it was built in a carrier and had only one direct access point and had a fuck ton of traders and a working reactor.

Depending on what brain you give him his previous memories end up melding with that of his new ones thanks to the brain change. Given enough time he eventually accepts them as his own. Also Rex bangs the cyber dog from Big MT and they end up having a litter of cyber puppies that will either bring terror to the Mojave or because unofficial guardians of small settlements against the eventual Tunneler invasion.
If you want interesting locations, this Fallout isn't for you.
If you want anything resembling a Fallout, try the others. This isn't even close.

Yeah but how does that work? You take out the old brain how does it store the memories? Has our current science managed to find out something like how DNA or our other organs can contain memories? Or is it just based on sci-fi logic that has no real world basis?
Just curious if the writers somehow managed to find something to tie it into modern science even in 20 fucking 10.

Legion isn't gray, them having safe roads is only because they don't have roads to begin with
shitty jokes aside, they are just a horde going around the midwest, assimilating everything they interact with.
The problem with this is that they are too big to last, and rely entirely on expansion and Ceaser to survive. They have nowhere left to expand to and Ceaser has a brain tumor.
They are just a flash in the pan

I highly doubt all the books of those examples just burned up while the books Caesar read were all conveniently spared. The guy is a moron who managed to learn some shit, then got a big head instead of studying some more and keeping humility. >Do you guys ever wonder if Beth is kinda jealous of Obsidian?
more like bethesda wants to do their own thing with the basics of the setting, because they didn't want to come up with a too similar setting and have it ignored.
So they use the known fallout name but hate the fact that there is already story and lore to it. They get mad when people want the older game's world/lore/setting but are too stubborn to do it.
So Obsidian was hired.

I don't really understand how this would work maybe it could account with his cybernetic parts keeping hold of most of his memories of being in the Denver police department. All I know is that whatever brain you choose he just eventually grows to accept it and its inherent memories as his own. Since he has been around for such a long time a lot of his old memories could have died out by now or been replaced on a regular basis since he is nearly 200 hundred years old for a dog. Also pic related is the best ending for him.
>>320771536

No he doesn't, he thinks it will change them, but he never alluded to knowing exactly how it will change. He just acts real pompous to try and convince the Courier that his decision is right, yet even he's not stupid enough to start making bullshit.
He's just a politician, using the delivery of speech to send the wrong signals so you won't ask any more questions which would result in either him lying, or getting hostile.
He's still stupid though, because it's clear he's gambling for New Vegas for the foundation of his empire, which ya know is like poetry cause that just makes him like all the other losers who go to Vegas to make it big. He just happened to have a lot more to stake on.
>>320771490
In the old games the Followers would place spies in factions (like the religion that is actually sided with the super mutants), not overly bad but weird.
In new vegas a follower actually killed an NCR who was investigating a water pump, it may have been 1 follower but it doesn't stray far from the followers doctrine.
Caesar was a follower and still practices many of his former pledges under the Legion banner.

Not him but to be fair, Caesar's logic is the wasteland lacks resources and assumes his plan is the only way humanity will survive in the far future. In a sense that is morally grey, because his goal is literally the whole of humanity being able to survive without pre-war tech and resources and ensuring the human race's survival.
It's just that he's looking so far ahead he doesn't realize he himself never had what it took to pull it off and makes him no different than No-Bark other than one being harmless and the other guy fucking with people.
>>320753182
s-so what happens if I walk there?
>>320774350
Depending on the dialogue you chose, you basically spend the quest courting her.
>>320774787
I'd argue that Deathclaws are more dangerous early on due to their DT and not being able to frenzy them.
>>320771538
The impression I got was that Caesar's goal was not the Legion's long term survival, but rather his goal was to create a single, unified identity among the people of the wasteland. His Legion would be the common base from which a new civilization would arise and flourish, just as ours has from the real Roman Empire.
This can be seen in his reasoning. One of the weaknesses of the NCR is the bickering and infighting amongst bureaucrats, self-interest is the driving goal of their civilization, and that comes from a strong sense of identity whether in a tribal sense or individual.
Caesar is trying to do away with this by destroying the identities of the tribes he conquers. He leaves little quarter for customs and traditions of those subjugated; they are swept up and assimilated 100% into the Legion's culture and ideals. If they do not, then they are decimated. The Legion would not last forever, and will one day fall just as Rome did. But from the Legion, the Wasteland will have a single, common culture from which they can build from.
>>320775352
How does frenzy even work? The only thing I've found out after 5 runs is fire makes fire ants go crazy. There's nothing on the wikis that mentions much about it.

I don't know how to manually hit wings easily with those weapons.
Actually is there a fucking mod that makes power attacks easier to use? This especially applies to shit like Unarmed's ranger takedown, which would be 99.99999% more useful if there wasn't this 1 second delay during holding right mouse + back before your PC even carries out the animation. It automatically completes after you finish the quest that fucking triggers it, who designed this shit?

>Liam Neeson
non-American here. For what movies I should know Liam Neeson? Because I'm sure I've heard his name, before F3, but can't really place it
>>320777563
DR->DT would be way too OP. Remnants PA has 30-ish DR and DT, which makes it pretty good (that's 55 DR with Med-X, if they stack, which I assume they do).

>implying you wouldn't stick your dick into Dala after she has giving you a personal runway show with her playing dress up, looking you up and down while licking her lips
Dala just needed a good hard dicking to set her straight.

Now if only there was a mod that let me use two of them

they only key at certain locations along the river.
just go new vegas and do what ever buisness with benny that ends him in some way than exit his casino and legion spy will give to a medalion that makes you neutral to the legion.

Oh I'm not complaining. I'm just shock there was a woman in the team after I saw that image long ago.

I don't think it changes the formula, it goes DR -> DT.
Helps with the hyper deathclaws and the like if you use some power armor and medex.
>>320755316
>You can't add armor attach points to meshes without making brand new meshes
actually there's ton of unused model slots for armor left over from Oblivion and probably even Morrowind. There've been mods "cutting" vanilla armors to separate pieces, for aesthetics mostly, allowing to pick pieces of armor set you like, or mix them.

>Liam "Long Dong" Neeson
Taken 1,2 and 3
Stars Wars
I think he was on a batman movie
100 ways to die in the West
some King Arthur movie where he played as one of the companion knights of the round table
He is on a lot of movies at the moment but mostly action ones doesn't help that his wife died a while ago so he is still hurting over that event.
>>320777979
two step goodbye is the best powerfist just because of its fun perk
>>320778502
you know, I don't really like his movies, but its cool to see an actor like him that really just likes to be in movies

Yes. rely on things that can be simple sharpened, stitched back together or welded back together, instead of needing a nuclear reactor and fusion cells.

An attempted rapist.
>>320778901
But power armor doesn't need fusion cores until Fallout 4 - Hell, it's mused upon that T-51b armor can last fucking centuries in Fallout 1.
Also, NV shows you can do shit like recycle microfusion cells, energy shells, recraft ammunition, all of that. Quite efficiently, even.

>tfw we will never get another NV or Morrowind

I really wish we could have gotten the completed Old World Blues ending. It sounds great.
What other Obsidian RPGs are there that are just as good/better than New Vegas?

Kotor 2.
Coincidentally, also a sequel to a game, though in my opinion, Kotor 1 was decent.

You can recycle them but it's only a chance to recover them. Thus we can assume that some times we can't recycle them. The supply is slowly going down, at some point none will be left. You can keep jury rigging stuff but at some point it's going to break for good.
Nobody said it was going to happen over night.

You can make fuel out of renewable resources. Shale oil and gas, biodiesel, even high-octane alcohol. It's just more expensive and less effective than actual mineral fuel.
Issue is, oil or coal are more than just fuel, starting with as basic things as plastic.
Also flying robots may simply use ion thrusters.
