It depends on the amount of exclusives you like. Both PS4 and Xbox One have good exclusives. Halo on XB1, and Uncharted on PS4. But if you already have a PS3, I'd suggest getting a PS4. It's a smooth transition, and It's the best for multi-plats.

Save the money you'd be spending on bullshit online like xbox live or PSN and upgrade your GPU. Save the money you'd save on sales for pc games which can be 20-50% off even for a day one copy.

Ignore those posts, I posted a few times about consoles read those. In summary, PS3 to PS4's a smooth transition, and is the best for multi-platform games. As for exclusives, both consoles have good ones. MCC has slow matchmaking times, but Halo 5 has good dedicated servers. Gears 4 also looks cool. Uncharted 4 looks nice too. It depends on your preference but considering you have a PS3, I'd say get a PS4. Best in the long run.

OP, if you're absolutely going to get a console for whatever reason, you're probably better off getting the PS4 unless you REALLY like the exclusive games the XBox has on it.
that being said, i wanna weigh in on this little sub-topic going on in this thread, about console vs. PC. to the one guy saying that consoles are simpler to use than PCs: that's fucking wrong, and has been for ages. back when i was a little kid and i played games on Sega Genesis and then all the way up to PS2/XBox era, that was true. it's not anymore, though; the PS3 and XBox 360 were truncated PCs with dedicated hardware, but you still had to deal with all the bullshit of booting it up, logging in, updating, installing (on many PS3 titles, this was mandatory for a while), updating the game, dealing with in-game dev- or publisher-run account features--all the shit you have on a PC that renders it more "complex" than early consoles, only on piece of shit hardware with poor UIs.
one of my brothers has a PC that me and my other brother bought for him, because none of us wanted to buy into the current generation of consoles. he plays it in his living room, on his big-screen TV, with a controller. for browsing the Internet and general use of the PC outside of gaming, we got him a lightweight, wireless keyboard with a trackpad attached to it so he doesn't even have to fiddle around with having a mouse on a table nearby; he just keeps the keyboard close at hand and perches it on his lap when necessary. this is a guy who's NEVER owned a PC in his life, and to my knowledge hasn't even used one in years, outside of very limited use in specific programs at work. now, he's installing games, updating programs, getting drivers, tweaking performance settings, all that stuff, and never complains about a damn thing because, as he's said, it's no more or less irritating than having to do basically the same stuff he had to do on the XBox 360, plus now he has more control over the system.

Menus are sluggish and glitchy, matchmaking takes an eternity, and you still get booted back to the matchmaking menu after a match instead of staying in the lobby with your previous group.
