Yeah I see, I had equipped 2 of my birds with stingrays and even the best of dicerolls didn't seem to do much they took quite a few hits from it. I didn't get a large UFO landing my first month, or at least not one that I alerted of which is why I was wondering if I was supposed to bring that one down.

>>320728529

Because Snakemen themselve are piss easy.

Flares were the only thing that could save you from certain doom.
>>320728729

Terror Unit Types
Cyberdisc - the Sectoid's terror unit.
Reaper - the Floater's terror unit.
Chryssalid - the Snakeman's terror unit.
Zombie - an intermediate stage of the Chryssalid.
Celatid - One of the Muton's two terror unit types.
Silacoid - One of the Muton's two terror unit types.
Sectopod - The Ethereal's terror unit.
Terror missions had specific races for each deployment.
>>320728729
For one thing, they're Thin Men, not tallmen.
And not really, the aliens don't seem to have genders themselves other than the Thin Men who are only human on the surface level. The Snake Ladies may even be mixed, but we'll only see the 'lady' model due to limited dev time.
If you could slow down the invasion 4 times then that would be great. Campaigns wont be aslong as the longwar mod. It will be just that right place between too long and tedious and EUPHORIA.
>>320722018
>that clipboard
smut is always better when it's funny
>>320726220
Aliens are confirmed for having them
I don't see why we wouldn't get psionics again late-game.
>>320728729
I think it's less in disguise and more like they bred and genetically modified them into a new race of aliens for the sole purpose of passing off as human, with the Snakewomen being the genetic template.
Kind of how the Archon are basically floaters, but they wouldn't turn floaters into archons, they would probably start from scratch with the floater template rather than turn all floaters into archons, and then stash all the remaining floaters somewhere, probably a closet.
>>320729087
No shit sherlock.
Now remove snakemen from the mission and subside them with Chryssalids only that endlesly respawn.
>>320730648
The thing is that he's talking about UFO Defense Chryssalids and you're talking about Enemy Within Chryssalids, though.
>>320730648
That only respawn when the beacon is activated.
That you can literally outrun if you keep dashing
And:
>Remove the Snakemen
Why would i, they were a part of the squads, just like with other aliens in EW terror attacks.
In no way, are modern chrysalids even as half as scary/dangeours as they used to be.
>>320731069
Because we were talking about EW Chryssalids.
And i don't remember in UFO defense that there was Anchorage Newfounland mission.
Who /fuck my shit up/ here?
>>320731291
Never did I once mention EW chryssalids.

I honestly have mixed feelings about xenonauts. A lot of the missions feel like a fucking snipe hunt. The enemy AI seems kinda weak. They don't really coordinate with one another and it's usually a fight with the lone alien you stumble upon. then the vehicles and HMGs make it feel more unbalanced. Send out scouts to flush the aliens, then just nuke the area with a tank or suppress em with HMG. It all just feels easier than the original and the reboot.

>>320734489
yeah, they're giving out the UE editor they make the game with, all of the assets (roughly 50 GB), a Visual Studio app for it, and even some of the script source code along with Steam Workshop support.
>>320734913
adds a lot more depth and longevity to the base game, lots of rebalancing and even bug fixing. the lead director of EU/2 has said he's perfectly fine with people viewing vanilla EU as a 20 hour tutorial for LW.
>>320735029
I believe you.............................
>>320734913
Everything. Long War tackles limitations self imposed in vanilla. It also fixes pods teleporting, introduces randomized LZ's, not to mention the revamping of all the classes and something like quadrupling the amount of equipment in the game. Also the airgame is better.

>>320735170
The airgame is dramatically worse. Literally "savescum until you win, because you lose 90% of the time and can't build replacements fast enough when you do"
the xcom general has had a pastebin link almost since longwar released which fixes the massive airgame fuckups.
I really hope you will be able to send more than one interceptor at a time like in the original game. I always liked double-teaming the UFOs

There's probably going to be some element of defense, as base defenses happen in X2 when UFOs are able to find and shoot down the Avenger. Otherwise, the traditional airgame is gone and they focused on expanding the geoscape instead to let the player be more proactive and have more decisions.

No.
Thin mints were already Snakemen in disguise.
In XCOM2, ayys won so they needed Snakemen to be more human friendly because having those fuckhuge snake monsters would be a bit unsettling.
Same reason why this is the new floater instead of the abomination they were originally.

Nice to know that this shit can't happen anymore because Overwatch shots are sequential. So if anything like Lightning Reflexes exists, it will trigger for the first shot and then mean jack for the next one.
Probably why the Ranger gets Phantom instead, which makes you a non valid target for overwatch, which just allows you to run past them and then shoot or slash them.
Also so glad that overwatch gets turned off if you hit them with anything. No more fuckers sitting there just overwatching anymore, just got to fucking throw a grenade at them.
Also fall damage, fucking awesome. And Grenadiers can get something so their explosions crit.
>>320721117
I still don't get why would you ever play Ironman in a game with so many RNG mechanics. In the last mission I played I managed to miss 2 78% shots, 1 82% and two 44% in the same turn, while the enemy got a critical and killed my MEC

Isn't that the point of a game with RNG stuff in it? Why would they design a game with dice rolls and chances if they knew the average player was going to just keep reloading the game over and over?
>>320744721
Because that's how strategy and war works. You prepare for the worst and hope for the best. You're suppose to deal with the losses and missed shots. If you can't do that then you're just not good at the game.
>>320745192A strong hit (or few hits) to head should do the trick.not like you want to save them now anyway, when once loyal soldiers are now dirty snakefuckers.

The chance of some bullshit encourages you to include redundancies when you're planning. Of course once in a while I agree you really get the shit RNGed out of you, but a streak of bad luck on a mission shouldn't be enough to put your entire game in a fail state if you've been playing well up to that point.

I beat the game on classic ironman a little while back. I've had a few attempts at Impossible Ironman but realised I'm too bad to beat it. I went back to classic and I'm getting so frustrated. I have no idea what the optimal builds are for the base and the fastest way to get satellites up. I researched Beam Weapons by the second month but have no engineers with which to build them. I'm getting so frustrated with the game sometimes. Nothing worse that deliberately aggroing a pack, missing all the shots that turn and losing guys. I hate the way the game calculates line of sight and accuracy. Thin men will one shot you no matter where you are and you can but inside a floater's asshole but you still can't hit him. >>320760164
I tough i was alone in this
>every psionic soldier i have get FABULOUS hair and armor colors
>in the end my team looks like gay parade
>>320755894
who fills the memorial with empty frameworks?
>>320760408
Long War stretches the number of missions out over a longer period of time.
I hope you don't retreat from any of them, that just makes the aliens stronger.
>>320760492you do and if it gets too crowded you have to prioritize.
>>320759905
>suicide bomber
that will be my every african and arab rookie's designation
and btw' I thing we all have been flagged by nsa after posting this shit
>>320760494
I know but most Long War games I've played so far have given me way more missions in the first month and I always see people say it's a good idea to have at least half your rookies promoted once by the end of march, and I only have 10 promoted and not a single corporal.
>>320725965
SLEEP TIGHT AYY LMAO
>>320760826
Interestingly, you can actually take down Sectopods with suicide bombers.. Sectopods have a splash radius to their attacks, so if you stand directly adjacent to them, they'll actually damage themselves. Pic related.
>>320760848
pretty sure that dynamic war means that the number of mission is halved
>>320724157
>gayyyyyyyyy lmao
What are the red flags on XCOM 2?
Don't care about any of the single-player p2w day one dlc bullshit; not a buyfag.
>>320758341
dont, it becomes so mind numbingly boring that it almost made me stop playing xcom entirely.
>>320751551
got scammed twice on g2a and it was 592 100% positive customer service was shit when it came to g2a shield shit
>>320759596
>Khillem Hall
I like your style anon.
>>320762190
If you hated the first game, you'll hate this one.
That's it for red flags, really.
>>320725965
>>320725965
sleep tight, little ayy
>>320750056
for some reason I got eW for free didnt even know I had it because I had put down xcom for a while.
>>320746581
Such a tough cunt aren't you, I wish I was so hardcore
Interesting.
XCOM 2 "Retaliation" Trailer kinda shows the 5th class at 1:42
>>320764359
You sure that's not just something like the covert ops in Enemy Within?
>>320759153
Im calling some sort of social infiltrator type.. would make sense, if you look at the first announcement trailer, xcom soldiers are clearly overwatching for the one civilian going through the security checkpoints. They even hold fire until the mindreading ayy points her out.
>>320764359
Except that's just a special cut-scene outfit
>>320764821
I'm not really seeing it. A class like that seems like it would be mostly useless for most parts of your average mission.
>>320764359
after rewatching the trailers,,
on the announcement trailer, the chick with a purse walking down the street. Well, I suppose she could be like an Xcom operative, she avoids the security scan as the announcement that all have to be scanned, how the sectoid reacts when she walks by and she also has the same pants as the Sniper.
>>320754381
>get a bug that puts me in an endless loop
>save essentially corrupted
happened twice, not putting ironman on again because of it
>>320743025
That's some SMT shit right there
Adorable.
I bought the 80$ edition of XCOM2. I'm hyped
>>320721326
>Took 3 Assaults, 2 Snipers, and 1 Heavy for good measure
>Rush my Assaults down the dock tearing down any zombies while I can
>One of my Assaults gets hit hard by some faggot zombie
>MFW I realize in my haste I did not bring a Medic/Support
>MFW I am fucking stupid
>Carry on anyways
>Set up two snipers in the shopping stalls overwatching for any activity to cover my rushing assaults
>Heavy behind them waiting for any chryssalids to shoot at or explode
>Keep two assaults behind an assault leader who will plant the bomb
>Close Combat Specialist OP pls nerf
>Plant that shit
>Chryssalids following my ass the entire time, popping out of sharks and shit
>Get everyone on the evac zone with 3 hostiles behind and one move left
>MFW I needed to change my pants after the stress of this mission
FUCK NEWFOUNDLAND.
>>320745014
Not to mention that XCOM 2 is supposed to be much more fast paced than XCOM was since so many of the missions will have time limits.
What do you guys think about the character pool system? What pools will you make?
>Vidya characters?
>80s action movie stars?
>Friends & Family?
>Waifus?
>>320731296
soldiers who've lived through many missions and watched a lot of rookies die. i keep sending them out so that they'll die and not have to live without something to fight for
>>320765005
Like how the soldier you sent on exalt missions was pretty worthless, but needed to complete those missions?
>>320758548
>the pictures on the wall behind the menu screen
you will be remembered
>>320757204
Yeah, but we at least get Exo-Suits, which feels like a scaled down MEC. Plus who knows what they'll add in eventual DLC
>>320762254
With dynamic war on it's not so bad, actually get new stuff in a decent time frame. Default is horrible though.
>>320762190
There isn't any p2w or day one DLC. There are really next to no red flags shown of at all everything seems improved. If I had to say anything It would be AI behavior, but I think them playing more aggressive will make it harder.
>>320769030
Alternately, spawncamp the whale, gut the mission of all tension.
>XCOM 1
>Chrysalids show up during Terror mission
>Fuck my shit up leaving everyone dead
>Lose a country
That's when I had to step up
>>320762190
Honestly, it looks like it fixes a lot of stuff I didn't like about the previous game, and doesn't do anything stupid. As long as it's not as bad as EU/EW in terms of aliens being op early, and underwhelming late, it'll be great.
Fucking mouse won't stop double/triple/fucktouple clicking on singular clicks.
So much for playing xcom EW until I'm able to afford a new one.
>press grenade button
>rookie mcrookster immediately tosses grenade on the floor at full-force
>destroys everyone's cover
Thanks rookie, thanks mouse.
>>320773621
>Not saving every turn
This is what you get
>there's finally some Jake Solomon videos
I was wondering when that glorious motherfucker would do more interviews and gameplay
>>320721184
>>>>/tg/
How did you know?
>>320773621
Does this really happen?
I don't mean to sound like 'Works for me! ;^)' but this is just as strange issue that I've never encountered. I don't think I've ever even heard of it before.
>>320735442
>That crit at the end
Flawless
>>320774051
very common thing
with razershit in particular it's practically guaranteed to happen eventually.
>>320743074
>Hours behind
Don't care
>Mostly OC
No.
>No fun land mission
>All my good soldiers are wounded because Thinmen bullshit
>Only rookies left.
>mfw
>>320774730
>razershit
I tried one of their mice once, and it was the most painful, buggy ass experience I've ever had. How are they still in business with products and support that terrible?
>>320775431
Just give them all your upgraded armor and weapons. They stand a better chance.
>>320755035
2K as publishers
>>320721326
That mission is easy. All you need to do isbreak line of sight.
>>320726513
Hopefully it won't need one. I love LW, but supposedly Firaxis is taking a lot of aspects of it for Xcom 2.
I think the only truly bullshit mission is the one where they assault XCOM HQ. It can be a cakewalk or it's the fanciest way of corrupting your save if you were caught with your unis not equipped properly when it triggers. You think you'd get a chance to equip your dudes. I know it's supposed to be an ambush, but still.
>>320773764
>Saving
>Ironman
>finally watch some gameplay videos
>these new pistol and shotgun animations/sounds
>people bitching about Newfoundland
>they didn't bring S.H.I.V
>they didn't bring skellington suits
>they didn't bring laser rifles
>they didn't bring alium grenades
You're so bad at games, anon.
>>320721326
More like
>bomb mission
>>320776882
Not even that.
One sniper with these perks
>Damn Fine Ground
>Squadsight
>In the Zone
Deck him out in Archangel Armour and place him across on the next pier.
You'll be the one AYYLMAO'ing after this.
>>320776882
The Newfoundland mission can happen before any of that shit is available, except maybe SHIV.
>>320776169
>playing on ironman
This is what you get.
>>320750539
yeah and the physical copy will need a 4gig patch day one probably
XCOM thread?
Threadly reminder that there is NO good reason to not have Enemy Within for those delicious MEC's.
>>320721117
Classic and above aren't worth the hassle. You can't even get laser weapons before the game starts throwing Rape Men at you and your whole squad gets annihilated by crits through full cover
>>320774051
This mouse I've got is at the very least 10 years old. It's so faded I can't even recognize the brand.
Will there be regular thin men, sectoids, floaters and so on? Thin men are one of my favorite designs aesthetically.
>>320778089
So far, there has been no sign that they will be in the game.
>>320776158
that was the best/most memorable mission at first time
>most experienced soldiers are in infirmary
>2 somewhat good soldiers with starting weapons
>all others are rookies or squaddies with assault rifles
>and mr' Chen using heavy laser
that win actually meant something,,
Is it worth getting medkits after the first mission?
I feel like another grenade is more beneficial
>>320777554
A day without xcom is a day without life.
>>320779157
I personally felt like grenades saved more lives than medkits when everyone's weapons suck.
>>320778089
>>320778272
thin men have turned back to vipers, but it showed one in the new trailer cinematic, all others species are in but apparently have spent the last 20 yers lifting
>inb4 the ethereals are stronger than senator Armstrong
fucking mods deleting gachimuchi threads
>>320779157
grenade can remove cover and always do damage, but you should always keep a medikit on someone in the back, like a sniper
