Long and short of it is media meant to criticize or make a parody of copyrighted material is protected from having legal action taken against it. That's how Weird Al gets away with his shit.
Now when it comes down to how youtube handles copyright strikes it gets a little different. I don't post shit on youtube nor do I know the ins and outs of it. It -seems- like if a major copyright holder files for something to be taken down, it gets taken down right away and youtube will review it when they get around to it. They may have special permissions for popular people that constantly have their shit trying to be taken down. Like if Dunkey gets a copyright strike, it stays up and his video is bumped to the front of the line for a review. This is probably because he's constantly bombarded with them and youtube is aware that he's not violating copyright laws.
Either that or youtube reviews his videos before they even go up so they can just click some 'ignore copyright claims' checkbox before hand. I dunno. I'm guessing.
