Do you think ArcSys is happy with the Guilty Gear Steam sales? Is Revelator likely?

Revelator will happen.

No idea when though. Probably late 2016 or early 2017 with them already being busy porting everything else.

It's probably fine, considering how many refunded because they can't get online and those connection issues.

Most of the sales are physical. The digital sales are mostly because of sales (which makes it just like PC). I think 90% of all copies sold on consoles are physical when not factoring in massive discounts and digital-only games.

Nah. Sony revealed that digital sales are 50% of all sales. Not even Japan is 90% physical, it more like 70%.

That figure also includes massive discounts and digital-only games. In its first month of release, a game will have its far majority of sales being physical. Something like 80-90%. And then that ratio is lowered as the digital version is put on sale.

You could say Elph maybe, since she's a literal wife-bot, but Jack-O is pretty consistent with guilty gear a designs, and while Rammy is a bit more organic than you'd normally get from GG, she's still decently fitting.
>>
>>320715348
I don't think Revelator damaged sales that much. The game still isn't out on consoles anyways. They should've instead run the discount promotion for longer and tested the online a bit more before releasing it.
>>
>>320712926
Probably did better what they expected. Revelator is likely but I don't think they'll be porting these games until the localized versions come out or after that, so consoles will have an advantage by being able to play the games earlier if they import.

I think Blazblue and Under Night will sell well on Steam too. The latter probably being more dependent on when or if the console update comes out prior.

Melty will probably sell like shit in comparison to everything else.

>>
>>320712926
I'd say so. That's like a million bucks they wouldn't have got otherwise, and it'll probably sell better once it gets a price cut.

Also, the incremental updates require less resources than the original port, so they might as well release it now they've done the tough work

the success of Dark Souls opened the floodgates

but the point was that since Japanese ports are more common now some people no longer feel like they need to purchase whatever new one comes out in hopes for more

now that it's happening i'll only buy what I actually want to play
>>
>>320717316
There is less commotion when a Japanese game is on Steam. Not as it was a few years ago. Dark Souls managed ot sell two million on PC because it was considered a big fucking deal. The fighting game is not much popular as the franchise itself.
Arcsys could drop the fighting games at any time and start doing something else with BB and it would still sell like hot cakes because it's that popular in Nippon.
>>
>>320717461
>And it wasn't really visible since it got overwhelmed by EA games and indieshit

I disagree
It got little attention because Arc just dropped the port with a one week lead

just out of fucking nowhere, few people knew it had been leaked by the korean board

the game itself was on the steam front page and top sellers for a while

the reason it isn't selling as well as you think it should might be because of that and the arc cycle (why buy this when it'll be outdated soon)

there were plenty of people asking that in the first week threads for Xrd here

The winter sale is also coming up soon and people may be saving their money for that and whatever cards they might get for making purchases during the sale period

Personally I think the game has sold well so far. Like mentioned before in the thread Arc is pocketing more money per game sold because it's a late port and the game has outsold the previous GG port in a single week. It's clear there's technical support for the game and the actual port is pretty good. The game will no doubt continue to sell.

Some people have mentioned that it has sold on par or near japanese console sales but I won't comment further on that because I don't know those numbers myself.

tl:dr sales are good and Revelator is a matter of when not if
>>
Sold more than the blazblue games (not counting humble bundle sales), so yes

It's true. They've sold about same in the same time frame. Although in Japan, the game was sold for full price, not to mention merchandise and CE's that Japanese love. So they probably made much more money there.

>the reason it isn't selling as well as you think it should might be because of that and the arc cycle
Honestly, Revelator might be almost a year from now for PC. The Arc cycle shouldn't be a problem since this game actually breaks the Arc cycle. It's the latest game in the series that isn't arcades. There is no excuse to wait several months for a potential upgrade when they're only selling this for like 20€.

It isn't a 1:1 situation considering pubs get a smaller cut per physical copy sold than digital and whatever they got from that then had to be divied up to pay for the game development, advertising, and so on. This however is just a port, the work has been done.

although they might have made their money back in arcades who the fuck knows

point is odds are good the port is selling within expectations for Arc

as for the arc cycle WE know it's the most up to date version but the casual player doesn't. I saw plenty of comments shitting on Arc for not porting Revelator instead when the port was announced. Those people aren't even aware that version isn't out on consoles yet. They just know it's the latest version and that's the one they might pay for.
>>
>>320712926
They've publicly said so. Fighting games are a niche market, man and the majority of PC gamers don't only game on PC. It's just their preference. They announced 4 more Steam ports right after Xrd's launch.

I'm not sure what their projected outcomes were at all.

I mean, you have to remember it was released the day after it was announced and had no advertising beyond the reveal on some niche sites. They've made no effort to capture the PC audience with their releases and I doubt that's going to change. This isn't the first time they've pulled this and they've released ports out of the blue, like Battle Fantasia. Whatever gameplan they have, only they know.

Are they happy? Probably not until they usurp Capcom as King of the Jews.

The GG "vets" don't like their "edgy hardcore" series to be tainted by "otaku moeshit" much like how SMT fans like to shit on Persona fans. I think it's just one big ego stroking at this point.

Though to be fair when BB Calamity Trigger came out, it was promised as the spiritual successor to GG, much like how these new kickstarter games promise people they'd be like their former franchises. Turns out it had lots of problems gameplay wise and was very clunky.

In the end though it's really just petty childish infighting

The Guilty Bits videos apply to AC and +R so some of the stuff mentioned there doesn't exist in Xrd (anything discussing FRCs being a notable example) but for the most part you can still take away things from each character video and use them to get halfway competent with the Xrd version of that character

So it has decreased in popularity over the years? Because I remember reading that MKX sold like 5 million or so. Meanwhile games like GG barely scratch 500k.

That's on PC alone. You mean to tell me that consoles managed to sell roughly 4.5 million compared to PC? I'd like to know your source for it, since a simple Google search won't tell me any sales numbers, and if it actually managed to break 5 million, I'd definitely would have found it

Also, only 12% of that 400~ thousand were still playing it as of two weeks ago on PC, and the PC has the most thriving community for MK X.

Sorry your series is a joke, but there's no need to lie about sales data to make it seem more relevant than it actually is, especially when sales mean nothing.

I fucking hate MK. It's the CoD of fighting games. Don't presume I like it.
>>
>>320729970
It's broken to the point where during launch (maybe even to this day?), you could unlock all the DLC by changing a few 0's to 1's in a .ini file. NetherRealm even had to fire the literally whos they put in charge of the PC port and replace them with the guys who did SF4AE and Street Fighter X Tekken's PC ports.

Just in case you didn't know this, X Tekken's PC port was so bad, Capcom just left it to die and offers no support for it, and it took them over a year to fix the mess that was SF4AE's netcode for USF4
>>

I absolutely suck at fighting games but I'm interested in GG Sign and hope for Revelator to come to PC in the future.

What is the fighting system similar to?

I found games like Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur and Tekken fairly enjoyable to pick up and play the casual single player but I could not get the hang of pulling off combos in Street Fighter, Virtua fighter and Skullgirls. I even had trouble passing the skullgirls tutorials

DoA, Soul Calibur, and Tekken are the most casual and easiest to play "fighting games". Skill ceilings are incredibly low, and they focus more on a single player story experience or casual friendly matches than anything else.

>I could not get the hang of pulling off combos in Street Fighter, Virtua fighter and Skullgirls. I even had trouble passing the skullgirls tutorials

It's a 2D fighter so it's more similar to Street Fighter than DoA. But it plays not much like SF either. It's very fast. Quite fun once you're past that initial learning curve and can keep up with fast-paced games. Combos are easier than SF.

But the SP in this is just really good tutorials and a story mode that is just a movie. So probably not your thing. Fighting games are meant for multiplayer.
>>
i bought it but i doubt i will be getting much mileage out of it. after doing the tutorial i am already confused by what seems to be a million different mechanics that get dumped on you just like that. with the low playerbase on pc i can already tell that being a newb is going to be even more of a shitrty time than usual

>>
>>320731973
Tekken has a low skill floor but a very high ceiling, the oki alone is the most advanced in a fighter. Soul Calibur doesn't have as high a skill ceiling, but it's high enough for competitive depth. DOA, however, is babby shit, that game was made for my boner.
>>
>>320732309
Disregard most of it. The tension trigger should mostly only be used for Faultless defence when you're getting cornered and specials. Focus instead of getting a feel of how characters move and attack. The mechanics will come in itself. There usually is one or two scrub lobbies up.

Purple RC is what happens if you RC a move in its recovery frames, it's essentially a regular red RC with slightly less time-freeze

Yellow RC happens if you RC a move during startup or when it whiffs entirely (you can also YRC at neutral) and costs 25% meter but has the shortest time-freeze, it's Xrd's replacement for FRC

Some moves also have special effects when YRC'd (Axl's [4]6S turns into a projectile that keeps going if YRC'd, Elphelt's rifle stance resets the cursor back on the opponent's position when YRC'd)
