Sword with gun has superior aiming skills, is a narrower target, and if it does get shot, the only damage done is either being disarmed or having a crooked blade.
Gun with sword, however, is better at close range combat and can probably parry Sword w/ Gun's bullets. But if Sword w/ Gun gets one strong hit in, it's all over for Gun w/ Sword's firing capabilities.
