Outcast had a better story than Academy, but I enjoyed the multiplayer of Academy more. Or I just played it more, I don't remember if it was really any better.
KotOR is completely different so it can't be better or worse than Outcast/Academy.
KotOR 2 is way worse than KotOR though.

Academy multiplayer is worse simply because of exploits they never managed to patch due to running out of license.
Poke/Spin were not intended to work as they do, they are literally unfixed bug.
Jedi Outcast for example also had this bug on release and in 1.01 version but 1.02 patched and and 1.04 is essentially perfect.
Anyone who played multiplayer in both games at their prime knows what I'm talking about.
Academy is simply unpolished and that's why it's worse than Outcast.

I enjoy both KOTOR games, but I genuinely love KOTOR 2. It's an unfinished mess, if you play without the restored content mod, but even so it's a thing of beauty.
Of the JK games, I probably like Outcast better, because I like playing as Katarn more and the single player was just plain better.

Most people will tell you to not get the M4-78EP component (restores a whole planet complete with its own storyline that was cut from the game) because it has a lot of going back and forth (backtracking) during the planet story but I think it's worth seeing it at least once and making your own opinion on the subject.
