I understand if they started the fight dead but when they do more than half the damage but get unlucky they lose out on a fuck ton of exp.

Shit accuracy system, shit class balance, retarded weapon speed modifiers, bar has an old man instead of a QT3.14.
Thankfully most of these are fixed on EO3. The only thing EO2 has over the rest of the series is that stratums 1 to 4 have a really nice theme.

None of that is an actual problem though. There's really only one class that's mostly useless, and even then a survivalist had its uses. Skill accuracy goes up as you level them.

Maybe I was just imagining things, but characters felt weaker to me. I convinced myself that it was due to being able to put skill points into stats, but I was probably wrong.

At least bosses gave tons of EXP, just have to get several troubadours with that EXP boost skill and a nearly dead Hexer to destroy bosses with Revenge, sleep for two weeks, rinse and repeat.
Having to max out to raise (one) level cap was fucked though, at least capping wasn't important.

I like uneven exp. It's cool to look at the party and think, okay, my tank is slightly ahead of the game and more battle hardened. Or, in EO4, my tank is a suicidal meatshield and my Landy has the edge in skills.

Princess is more stylish, but the offensive game on Dancers is hella fun, wheras most of the other Princess skills are just useful. Fun is preferable.
