Is this shit genuinely good? I've got this feeling that it's massively overrated and it's not THAT good. The description or synopsis in the steam page sounds like a fucking joke, and the pacifist/genocide trope is not really new.

It pretty good, but it's extreamly overrated due to being one of the few games not to shit itself this year.
It's surprisingly good, although not GOTYAY material. I went in with zero expectations after seeing a few threads on /v/ (before the shitstorm started) and enjoyed it thoroughly.

it's not bad but because of the way it breaks the 4th wall, it leaves a bigger impression on the player so everyone shill more than it deserves, outside of that a good chunk of your playtime is spent solving boring puzzles and defeating easy enemies, it's only when you get into fight with bosses that the game actualy shine, that would make it sounds horrible but as i said since the game is pretty short, bosses makes like 70% of the game

Yes, you finish a neutral run and Flowey mentions to you to reload from your last save and go to Alphy's lab if you want to know more, you don't have to start from the beginning again, it is just an extension of a neutral run if you've done it right.

It's a quirky game that's worth a couple playthroughs. I'd say it's a good game. It's not a bad one.
Not worth the hype it's been getting IMO. I think the whole 4th wall thing is amazing to people (see: Deadpool's fanbase). That and the whole tumblr aspect.
But it's cheap and it's short. You don't lose much by giving it a go. That was my mentality going in, and I ended up playing through it twice to see an alternate ending (and then youtubed the other ones).

It's good, people do overrate it but it's probably the best indie game to come out this year. The steam page is a joke because Toby is a jokester, and you're expected to do a neutral run where you probably kill some things at some points (but nobody does so because everyone's been spoiled about the pacifist/genocide endings). I'd play the demo or pirate it to try it out, I went in with no expectations since the game just came out when I played and found it really enjoyable despite its flaws.

As you can probably see in this thread, it's pretty great. It's not some sort of masterpiece, it's too short, and the fanbase is the worst I've seen in a long time, but it's definitely worth at least a pirate.
Also, genocide is literally the best thing about this game, even if half of it is a boring grinding tedium.

The problem with Genocide is that it's barebones as hell and was literally only made so that there is an option for it. Your pic says it "You think you can, and because you can, you have to". If there wasn't an option to butcher them all, the Pacifist option would be meaningless.
I'd love it to be more fleshed out, have more bosses, more meaningful Extermination phases without just grinding boring, easy fights for half an hour, but the argument could be made that it'd take something away from it.
You don't do genocide because it's fun, or has a lot of new fights and new content.
