There are a few games that are pretty stable longterm "community" type games.
Sven Coop is (was?) one, especially if you're a furry.
The Specialists was a big one if you're into really gay roleplaying.
A number of other smaller HL1 mods similarly had long-lived communities.
That was a phenomenon that I never did see in any HL2 mods.
The era of HL1 mods was a special time in so many ways.
