Nintendo has gone from it's golden 64 era to mass producing the same type of games continuously or either "innovating" some of them to the point where it is hardly similiar to the first games, atleast mostly visual while keeping the gameplay simple.
While at the same time they release consoles with gimmicks which game dev's have to deal with, which reduces the potential of any game which doesn't need or benefit from those gimmicks.
It's as if they are trying to be a niche company while abusing nostalgia by milking the games that made them one of the big game companies
