I got it on GoG and I'm not buying it again

TA artillery is pretty brutal. Glad they kept that in supcom.
>>
old game release on steam is an event now???
the game has been on gog for years
>>
>>320614519
Because its vapor ware and easily available for free with all the expansions

Buying it from anyone is giving money to some faceless jew since cavedog have not existed for years

Steam is slowly taking away one of Gog's selling point.

>>
>>320615896
not really gog hasn't really been about old games since they changed the name (they still have some "exclusives" though you could say) steam just gobbles up everything which is both positive and negative

I own the CDs too but fuck if I'm digging it out and reconnecting a DVD drive just to play it when it'll literally take me a minute to download and install it via Steam

Now that I think about it, the soundtrack sounds like taken straight out of Star Wars.

It's a shame such concepts are dead, it's all apm and micro and fuck actual strategy.

Does it includes the expansions? I never got a chance to play them.

Yes

I loved Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance, and I don't mind if a game doesn't have the fanciest graphics.

Would I enjoy Total Annihilation?
>>
>>320617450
SC is literally TA
>>
>>320617450
It's where it all started for real. You'll love it.
>Having a regimented defensive patrol of fighters is still the best thing ever
>>
>>320617450
It's honestly ancient. It was groundbreaking back in the days and is still pretty entertaining but the UI etc is something of another age. Give it a try but it's hard to argue to play TA over supcom FA.
>>
>>320617450
Considering Supreme Commander is more or less a sequel to TA, yes
>>

Do people still play it?

I don't know, I played it long ago. I binge-played it for few years until I got sick of it.

But looks like it keeps getting updates.

Pity that it didn't get its renaissance after planetary annihilation flopped.

What's wrong with wargaming?

what's not wrong with wargaming
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2jS4ZaVOWA

Has one of the best soundtracks...

Fun fact: It is one of the few universes that can straight up give Warhams 40k a run in the warfare department. The standard PeeWee units which can be pumped out in like, 8 seconds apiece per factory, are 20 foot tall mechs with akimbo rapid fire plasma cannons. The Tyranids ain't got shit on that.

pity that PA was megajewed at every opportunity
>>
>>320618642
I'm playing through the original Core campaign right now since I never played them as a kid. I think I was missing the CD with the campaign on it or something so I only ever played skirmish mode.

It's decent enough. The narration is neat. There's a LOT of campaigns with the expansions
>>
>that one junk in in one of campaign missions worth about 20k metal
>you couldn't reclaim it
>>
>>320618764
Nah, it would suck anyway.
But a good game could benefit from it instead.
>>
>>320615896
No. Valve doesn't bother making old games work on modern systems where GOG does. Only takes one annoyed purchase to realize Steam can be pretty fucking retarded.

Anyone else think GOG has been literal shit lately?

They fucking unbundled all of the games with multiple expansions and anthologies for no fucking reason.

They can suck my dick, I'd rather have some of my GOG games on fucking steam right about now.

Is the multiplayer working or do you need 3rd party software

I remember some vague eagle lobby thing wich would instantly fix the whole game for you

It's not like TA was the standard format at any point in time, even when it was released it was still surrounded by APM/micro games like Starcraft, Dark Reign, etc

>>320617516
Supreme Commander does nothing to make itself an actual sequel / successor. The only real successor to Total Annihilation is Total Annihilation Spring.

SC was so long ago, though, that I can't even remember why I hated it.

because for the first time ever gog fans can say we've had that game for years already instead of the other way around.

It's not.

The game builds upon the base but its focus is the massive battles which is not the case at all in TA.
