So is it just me, or are the Harvest Moon games getting progressively worse? That's Natsume project, Natsume used to be Harvest Moon publisher for Marvelous in western, however now that Marvelous have their own western publisher, Natsume snatch away "Harvest Moon" name, so they can use it, hence the original "Harvest Moon" series have been renamed Story of Season and Harvest become cashgrab title for Natsume.
Story of Season 3ds is pretty good, however all that get released in DS was pretty awful.
That's because it's Harvest Moon in name only.
Bokujō Monogatari, which is what the series previously known as Harvest Moon is called in Japan, was localized by Natsume up until 2013. After A New Beginning, Marvelous Inc. decided to have XSEED take over localizing the Bokujō Monogatari games.
However, Natsume still has the rights to the name Harvest Moon, and they're developing their own games under that name, the first of whch was Lost Valley. Which was god awful.
The Bokujō Monogatari games are now being localized as Story of Seasons.

It's no secret Natsume has no idea how to make a game. Maybe they're a good localization company, maybe not, but it's undisputed how awful they are at making video games and how Jewish they are to steal the name "Harvest Moon" out from under Marvelous to make a quick buck.
Here's to hoping Story of Seasons as a series picks up steam. It's annoying and grindy, sure, but I'd love to see a big, full-fledged 3D console farmer once again with such a comfy setting and cast of chars.

A New Beginning was the last Bokujō Monogatari game to be localized as Harvest Moon, as it's also the last game that was localized by Natsume.
So it's the last actual Harvest Moon game. Every Harvest Moon game released after it is actually developed by Natsume, making those games Harvest Moon in name only.
Story of Seasons is the new name Bokujō Monogatari will be localized as.

I liked its a wonderful life that was fun, Friends of Mineral Town is the easy answer.
I actually enjoyed Island of Happiness and its quite remarkable how much I see people shitting on it, the music is like thoroughly rooted in my head.

For all the shit Natsume's done the past couple of years, and their track record for buggy typo-ridden localizations I have to be thankful for them for localizing A-Train. I was genuinely expecting never to play it, but it looked neat when sites covered the JP release.
They also did some solid work on the VC, although that seems more like the only decent product they can still release. It's a shame they'll never do a VC release of HM64, but I guess that's just their inability to program creeping up on us all.
