I have a DVD/CD Drive because I have a PS4 as a blu ray player, a Xbone controller for certain games, a LG G110 LED keyboard that I've had for years and a nice Corsair LED mouse. Obviously, this all cost a lot more than 300. Keep in mind that I had a Radeon HD 6850HD before I upgraded to the 980ti.
Money isn't an issue for me because I work hard. All of this was way more expensive than console gaming, but at the end of the day paying for Live/PS+ is still stupid if you actually want to own your games for keeps.

I am a retro collector and a PC/Nintendo guy, and I'm pretty happy with that. I won't deny that Xbone has some games I'm interested in like Scalebound and Rare Replay checking out or that there are some PS4 games I haven't played such as The Last of Us, but as a guy that has access to over a thousand games both old and new I just don't see the point when my backlog is huge as it is. Ratchet is my favourite sony franchise ever, that's why I still like consoles, despite being a PC guy. We have to look at things on a broader perspective, not everyone is as fortunate as us. It seems really easy to just spare some cash month to month and buy a 1500 PC and run everything like a breeze, but when you're just a kid or going through school, it's just easier and cheaper to buy a console and play games with your friends. I found the 1TB PS4 £299.75. I rounded up and excluded shipping fees. I'm fairly certain this is the build, and you can definitely find all of those parts for under £300. The case, without the keyboard and mouse certainly keeps it under that price. There's alternate builds that may even outperform this for roughly £270~.
When I first found the parts, it was a lot cheaper because of sales at the time. So if your timing is right, you're gonna save a bunch. Not that the same can't be said for the PS4, but at that time the PS4 wasn't £300 for the 1TB bundle.
