Help I'm an idiot what does it all mean?
>>
>>320575219
This seems to be HTC's decision rather than Valve's
>>
>>320576495
It means if you want to run any program on the Vive you need to contact HTC's servers to see if you're allowed to do so first
>>
>>320576601
Ah. I uh... have avoided VR news. Did not know there was a machine called a Vive. Legitimately thought HTC just made phones I don't buy.
>>
>>320576728
Fuck off kid.
>>
>>320576728
It's Valves thing
>>
HTC makes things other than bad phones?
>>
>>320576775
Valve is their partner but there is no way Valve agreed to this
It makes no sense for them to compete with themselves

Why? That diagram is pretty much the same for Steam...
>>
The release was delayed because Valve is getting out. I have heard this from reputable sources.
>>
Yes, DRM for "HTC's 'STORE' " platform.
>>
>>320575219
>neoshit

Fuck off neogaf
>>
>>320576751
I'm not all that sorry this budding niche market doesn't appeal to me. I am not overly eager to strap a box to my head and play as a gun in ways only dreamt by early 90s cyberpunk movies before now.
>>
So now what is the correct VR headset to use for 3D waifu games?
>>
>>320577086
Best place in the internet for gaming news and rumours :)
>>
>>320576905
Why the fuck would they use HTC's store instead of Valve's?
>>
>>320577136
I'd assume both would be present

Luddite who doesn't realise he will be using VR daily in a couple of years

So if any of you chuckle fucks bothered to go investigate instead of trusting this fourth hand information you'd know what this actually means instead of jumping to conclusions.

The "Do you agree to deploy your application to HTC's store first as debut?" checkbox is an OPTIONAL checkbox for applying for a free devkit.

Basically, if you agree to go be an HTC shill there's an unspoken implication that you will get priority for a dev kit. You can UNCHECK THE BOX and IGNORE IT in your application.

This is NOT a requirement to develop for the Vive. Heck, you technically don't even need a dev kit to develop for it. You can just download the SDK.

I'm having a hard time grasping why they need DRM on something like this.

You. Read >>320577696

It's HTC being shits trying to sucker people into agreements and bribing them with early dev kits but none of this is mandatory.
>>
>>320575219
Did anyone give a shit about this piece of crap in the first place?
HTC are fucking dead anyway, they have less cash than the company is worth so if someone was to buy them HTC would have to pay them to do it, that is how fucked they are. And no their last quarter was shit too and means nothing in the long run
>>
Sounds like Starbreeze is the last viable HMD maker for PC unless Valve partner with Lenovo or another company.
>>
>>320575219
What the heck is this?

>>320580954

It was the least cancerous VR option left.

Why do you people want VR? It'll all be first person games so basically FPS only
>>

parkour games
drive/flight sim
virtual tour/meeting
remote controlled drones

you just lack imagination

False alarm then.

Its the equivalent of an maladware box in a installer.

new controllers look sweet, but a part of me is really sad to see the 'sombrero' go. particularly because i was clinging to hope they would be detachable and offered independently for creating custom tracked objects on the fly (something Valve has indicated is very possible). these new controllers seem very integrated by comparison, and the new toroidal shape of the tracking part doesn't look as general purpose as the old sombrero pucks.

the sharpness of the triggers also looks a little weird to me but i trust valves judgement on that kind of thing.
>>
>>320584617
>too hard first person. can't see the ground.
uh, mirror's edge
also parkour in real life you can't see the ground

>sims are not games
what? how old are you? racing is one of the oldest genres
>>
>>320585235
>uh, mirror's edge
Yes, that game is too hard.

>also parkour in real life you can't see the ground
Obviously why I don't parkour

>what? how old are you? racing is one of the oldest genres
Driving sims are not racing games.
>>
>>320580749
Ah. Well the dream isn't dead then. Not that guy btw.

The shills are performing damage control I see.

Waifu age confirmed for still borne.
>>
>>320585365
>Driving sims are not racing games.
uh, okay. so what are racing games based on? races and cars. they simulate car driving. thus it is a sim. some are more more simplified but they are a sim none the less
>>
>>320585761
so you can't use it to look at things corporations don't want you to look at.
