I get the feeling that this game has a hidden 'bullshit-o-meter' that builds depending on how well you're progressing.
Like, if you're carrying loads of humanity and souls and just missed a jump and fell, and upon trying to return to the same spot, the enemies are more aggro then they usually are as if they're trying to prevent you from recovering.
And when you're trying to farm for something, you'll get it after 30 cycles but as soon as you go on the game drops millions of the same item just to spite you
