1 is the best and biggest. It's where all the maymays come from.

2 with its expansions is still small, and battles are a lot smaller. No base-building either.

1 is a more conventional RTS but Dark Crusade and beyond fucked the balance up to the point that the only viable units are melee

2 is more like a video game, real time version of a tabletop battle
