GameArts got bought out by Gungho and closed down and I think Kei Shigema who was the creator and head of these two series left to start his own small studio, but they barely release their own full featured games and instead are employed to just work on small things.

Takashi Takebe, Yuichi Hasegawa, Akira Kashiwagi and Noriyuki Iwadare are the main people behind Grandia and all of them still work at GameArts.
If anything, blame them for trying to ripoff Monster Hunter and failing at it instead of making Grandia 4.
