This is probably the biggest disappointment in years for me.
When it was announced, I kinda thought they were going to go the Phantasy Star route, and instead of some Matrix/Megazone-like plot-twist they were going to use some kind of dimensional shift bullshit or something. I wanted to see either the FE characters in cyberpunkish settings, or the SMT characters in medieval fantasy settings. The problem with Western Pop is the artists all started to think they were super special snowflake actual musicians so western pop in recent years has become this really fucking tryhard shit trying to ape on actual good music.
Kpop is just 90s boyband and girl group music with modern production. It's light, it's fun, it's got addictive as fuck beats.
Jpop apart from Nakatacore these days though is just shitty eurobeat these days with autotuned as fuck teenage girls and even Nakata is very hit and miss, for example I find perfume tracks utterly schizophrenic, they have these awesome instrumental actual good produced dance music bits, but when the chorus kicks in, it becomes all super bubbly eurobeat completely out of wack with the rest of the track.
