Ike plays very different to cloud.
I've been an Ike main since Brawl, and I can safely tell you that the only similarity in playstyle comes and ends at bair.
All of Ike Smash attacks are better than Cloud, his uTilt and Ftilt are better, faster, and both can be used as kill moves.
He even has better recovery.

Cloud IS better than Ike at neutral though. His autocancel Uair and Nair are way too fucking good. And having kill confirms from dair into FINISHING TOUCH is too good.

His neutral B is shit as a projectile (can't use it as a leading hitbox like Mario can with his fireball) since it has too much lag on Cloud, so that is inconsequential.

Cloud relies too much on his setups into Limit breaks for kills, or a hard heard for an Fsmash.
Ike's dtilt might not be as amazing as Cloud but it takes Ike into airdodge 50/50s where his bair seals the deal.
Ike's bair SHITS on Cloud's pansy bair. Ragnell hits like a truck.

I'm still mirin Cloud's Uair. That shit might be one of the best moves in neutral in the entire game. And his dtilt is just dumb good.

Ya, he gets juggled a little easy, that's a given being the heaviest character. However, he has excellent punish options if a combo is anything but perfect. He also benefits the most from rage.

I secondary Falco and Puff. Falco is pretty fun, pretty satisfying (but short) combos if you do them right. Smash 4 Puff is just shit though, surprised she never got any buffs, not even anything for Rest.

Not so good. No real buffs lately and Shield Breaker is still weakened. As someone who loves shitting on defensive players I'm really disappointed by how less often I'm taking out shields.

But she's still good enough. Tiers are for queers and whatnot, I still can't see what places her and Marth so low. To me it seems their attacks are super-fast with a lot of endlag, so the best way for me to play is to go for broke and do everything I can to hit. For example, Dolphin Slash is just about always safe if you actually hit the target with it, and it's just about the fastest move. F-Smash I'm sure still has to be one of the game's best, right?

I need some thoughts on Marth and Lucina, I don't hear much from others who play them lately. I'm no pro, but I'm not shabby either. I win a good amount.

Do you even play the character? Bowser Fire is safe on shield, and takes only seconds to recharge. If your good with it then your opponent has to make reads while your descending instead of just rushing you down.

Neutral A, B-air and D-air all have great speed considering their knockback, while Whirling Fortress is one of the fastest moves in the game, and is spectacular out of shield. SideB and Utilt also got speed buffs, Utilt being particularly fast now.

They are bad because swords are bad. Cloud is really the only character where the blade is an impossible, invincible hitbox during attacks like it's supposed to be.

Ike's alone is more disjointed than Cloud. Cloud's uair and nair are just a bit faster.

There's nothing that actually makes Marth or Lucina good, they don't excel in anything.

And Marth's tippered F-Smash is really powerful, but it's not so powerful that it makes him worth using.

Compared to what? I've seen the bullshit with Shiek and such, but other than that they seem pretty decent in the air with that, they even beat out plenty of air fighters that way. It's pretty shabby on the ground, sure, but Fsmash is pretty decent when it comes to that.

How is Lucina so far below anyway? I get that she's easy modo and lacks the tipper, but one of her only kill moves that matters is still extremely powerful for how fast it is, her sword only makes it more reliable. The thing is that a lot of players miss something about Marth.
He can combo better than Lucina because if you hit with a sourspot it is weaker than Lucina, which sends the opponent closer to you.
Also Marth's entire metagame is fishing for tippers, it's all he has against other characters in smash 4.
Lucina doesn't even have that. You basically just wall them out with attack hoping to land an Smash attack, which Marth can do better and at an earlier %.
There's no real reason to pick Lucina over Marth, not even one. The equal sword mechanic actually fucks her up more than help.

Maybe I'm just playing wrong, but while I'm not so great with combos, I'm good with catching. Even if Marth combos better, Lucina juggles and goes air-to-air just as well. I do really well on foes that think they're hot shit in the air, and forget how good Nair still is.

Honestly I'm a bit of a waifufaggot, I think she's very cool and cute. But I really do find the tipper-fishing tedious, and I haven't grown an attachment with Marth like many others since I never played him much in past games.

In any case, I still got Pikachu, main since 64. I just don't do quite as well with him yet, though.

Quickly becoming one of my least favorite character to fight against, even though he's a ton of fun. The changes to his U-Throw have turned was was a respectable character into a rapacious hoo-hah machine. I've ran into more than one Bowser since the update using nothing but whirling fortress, U-Throw, and any move that requires holding up on the analog stick.

Bowser is the gayest defensive character in the entire game, except perhaps the transvestite with no endlag. Depending on your approach options, he feels untouchable sometimes - between fortress, Fair, Utilt, side-B, jab, and his grab.

I main Donkey and his hoo-hah is equally gay.

Locals are pretty fun, but your mileage may vary.
For the longest time I thought that they might be pools of autism like the internet makes them out to be but I lucked out. Meet a bunch of +20-28 guys. We have even cooked and brought beer and shit to our weekly. We do tons of other shit too. We even made a road trip together.
You should try checking your local weeklies, you might meet cool people to play with. Or you might have bad luck.
My very first weekly was full of the worst people ever. People that threw their controllers on the ground after losing. That would holler like monkeys and hit themselves.

All that said. Con tourneys are literally the bottom of the barrel tier. So you can only go up from there.

The nair is hit/miss for me. If you do connect the first strike, the second will almost always hit and do nice damage, but in the times where you only get the first hit off before landing, it doesn't really flinch them and your opponent will always be able to punish you.

What does the d-smash buff do? I haven't really noticed anything.

Not with Sheik. She is super active, constant inputs till your fingers wear out. She's got a lot of cool movement options to bait and punish, so it never really feels repetitive. Plus, it's fun getting inside your opponents head and fucking them up.

Playing characters besides Sheik is pretty boring though, they get old fast. I like the fact that I have a million options at any given time, way more options than Melee Sheik even has.

I do play at my locals. I do pretty well despite playing against really annoying characters like shiek, falcon, villager and other annoying characters that can dominate Samus with their overall aggro play style. The furthest I got was losers finals using Roy and Samus.

You learn how to space and how to recodnize what works when, and where. Neutral A, Dash attack, U-smash, F-smash, F-air and U-air can all wiff, so you need to be sure that when you throw them out they are going to land. She has good combo game and off stage potential, while she is one of the best at picking apart players who don't want to approach. Getting good with charge shot is a must, since on top of all the smash wiffing, Dsmash and D-tilt no longer kill before 200%. She also lost her old N-air, which was one of the best in the game. The new one is good for offstage guarding though, and can snag kills earlier. Oh, and grabs don't kill before 200% either for any throw, on any character, in any location.

She's a good pick against heavies, but I mostly use her against players who have no idea how to fight her. Even then though, she hardly gets used for an entire set. She is still fundamentally broken in so many ways it's hard to believe they could have fucked up a character so bad.

You think, making someone floaty would have good air moves, that don't take a min to come out.
Mewtwo can't land safely back on stage if its facing a fast fighter like Shiek or Mario, who can throw out punches out in a flash.
Teleport can be fun for mind games, but you can still be hit, even if Mewtwo body is completely gone.
