I saw FFVI got a PC port, is it any good or should I just emulate? If so which version SNES or PS1?

The new port with its terrible iOS chibi graphics is terri-fucking-horrible. Avoid at all costs, and emulate the SNES originals if you must.
4, 6, 7 and 9 are the best games in series.

Avoid the steam released at all costs. They're garbage. Straight iOS ports, with awful phone styled UIs, and the iOS versions completely butchered the visuals either way
just play the snes/super famicom roms for 4/5/6
the translated jpn ones are the least censored
