I jump on netplay right now and all I see are people mashing buttons. I get that the large majority of PC users are playing it for the first time. That's why I'm asking, how long do you think it'll take you guys to catch up to the skill level exhibited from the PS3/4 players?
Cause I wanna play this game on PC primarily. I really do. But it's not fun when you can literally destroy everyone in the room with almost no effort.

Faust main here, my bro mains Sol. I can usually keep my distance when fighting him, but when he DOES get up close and personal I can't seem to reliably get him away, and then he tears my shit up.

Basically, any decent Axl won't let anyone near him, and even if he gets close, he can tell him to fuck off, and that's enough to place him in the better characters.

The only actual top player who has ever put him higher than B is FAB. Which makes sense, considering it's one of his character's worst matchups. Everyone else considers him to be mid to high-mid.
His oki is only okay, his DP is only okay, his normals from mid to full screen are great but they're lacking when the opponent is close. His damage output is only okay. His mixups are only okay. As a character, he's only okay.

Man, some gooks like Ogawa put him on S. And that's sure as hell for some good reasons.
I played against the best EU Axl, and I can tell you you won't get any chance to get close to him.
Yes, he's not the best when it comes to rushdown like a gorilla, but that's not the point of the character. He's almost a pure zoner, and he fucks you up with no mercy.
But then, I find myself the game really well balanced, except for Elph who needs a nerf, and Venom, Ram, Slayer and Pot who need a buff. So when I put in S tier, it's clearly characters that are strong, stronger than the norm.
Axl's flaws are like Sin's and Zato's: Purely here to give some natural balance. Imagine the horror Sin would have been with no calorie meter, or Zato with an infinite Eddie.

It's not about getting good. This is how fighting games work with two equally skilled players. There is a reason tiers exist, because some characters do not have favorable matchups or have broken mechanics.
Potemkin is bad, as is Slayer, Slayer just edges him out barely by having more favorable matchups and easier setup. You can't honestly sit there and tell me that two equally skilled players playing Millia or Zato or Ram or Ky or whoever really would lose to a Potemkin player. Sure they may lose if they're worse at the game or make a mistake, but in most cases almost every character in the game will have an advantage over Potemkin players at equal skill levels.

The huge problem with Chipp is that he literally dies in 2 combos. That was the decisive point for me about getting him higher or lower in the tier list.
When it comes to offense, he has some really good stuff like all the ambiguous shit he puts in your face when you're corner'd.
But yeah, getting dizzied that fast with that low health is Chipp's biggest flaw.

That Trishula buff was a godsent, I was struggling with the 6k loops and it not only helped me with that but also added a whole bunch of combos, most of them very cheap and damaging and ALL of them end on a hard knockdown. Its just glorious to play Potemkin since 1.10. Because 1.00 was a nightmare for Potemkin with that super limited combo options.

I'd say Axl's B - A tier. His zoning game with chains is pretty good but requires the player to make hard reads consistently throughout the match.
His mixup game is kinda weak compared to most of the cast, thus requiring meter to open up strong opponents.
He has slow movement speed all around, including jumping, IAD'ing and running. Fast characters like chipp, millia, and el can ruin his day pretty quick.
Overall, I agree with that other anon. He's a highly specialized 'okay' character.

Bedman is an incredibly technical character and everything he does is incredibly easy to punish if you fuck it up, on top of that his lacks air game for the most part so you'll mostly be on the ground unless you can master triangle jumping.
Basically most people don't use him because he lacks the pushthrough attacks and tankiness of a Potkemin as well as being one of the more complex characters mechanic wise due to mastering chaining the deja vus.

There is no such a thing as two perfectly even matched, unless you're speaking about only execution level, which hits a ceiling pretty quickly and is only a differencing at low to mid-low levels.
The bulk of fighting games are in the mind-games, reaction speed and reads. Match-up knowledge is a requirement and losing because you don't know what to do on said match-up is a shitty excuse.
Xrd has no character that is so weak he cannot compete against the other characters like Dan, Potemkin and Slayer are rated low because of their lack of options during the neutral game, which is also about the only thing pro players rate, but Potemkin makes up for it by having huge explosive damage, the best defense and GUTS rating in the game and very fast tension gain. FAB said that if Potemkin didn't have such a wide hitbox he would easily be high tier. While Slayer makes up for his lack of options with his explosive damage, his fast close range normals that work extremely well as frame traps and his special ground mobility that crosses up.
Those characters are rated lower not because "equally skilled players will win every time if they use the higher tier a blo blo" but because those characters need better reads and mind games to play with their strengths, which is huge damage potential for both characters.
Proof is that there are many very strong Potemkin players aside from FAB both in Japan and NA, wrecking shit left and right, like Dat_Nova and Konsomme. And many strong Slayer players who wreck equal amounts of shit like Taka and Hase.
And those guys aren't wayyyy much better than everyone else because they play weaker characters and still win, they are just used to their characters and have good knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses during matches and can make good use of this to play around their weaknesses by setting baits and making mind games.

His combos are easy, but unconventional. You learn how to put out a lot of damage on him easily, but lessons on him don't transfer well because you're using a lot of specials that easily chain into each other.
The way he plays defense is different from other characters since he wants to block into Brynhildr from normal and parry while in Brynhildr. Even at high level play he's doing a lot of this so you might have a poor time learning regular rejections and shielding.

His neutral HS, the multi hit shadow cerberus thing, I've been using it more since it can punish the super armor charge of potemkin but I can't seem to find any other move to combo out of it aside from invite hell. Anon, I know what mods Skyrim has.
The point I'm trying to make is that Skyrim's engine severely limits the kind of mods that are possible. You can give the modders much more power, but ultimately you can't change the game as much as you can change Oblivion.
Take games like Saint's Row for example. You can't change ANY models in the game, because the game doesn't allow it. The most you can do is add textures. And with Guilty Gear, the most you can do is change colors.
If you LEGITIMATELY think that every single game can be changed into an entirely different game just through mods, you're a fucking retard.

Why would you want to cancel into a move that isnt drill? Scores a knockdown and sets up nasty eddie oki. Shadow gallery is mainly a combo tool, but you can YRC it to do sneaky stuff. A YRC late in the move, as he's coming up from the ground, puts you really far for some reason. You use the command grab when they're blocking and scared of you, in conjunction with eddie pressure. Probably won't do you much good with zato solo.

You can't really do much from 5HS alone and the knockdown it gives should be enough of a reward for you as Zato player.
Shadow gallery becomes very important in his more advanced combos and you can create pretty interesting situations with it where you cancel air backdash with it to punish people trying to chase you down. It's not a move you should rely too much on but always threaten them with it just existing.
And command grab is well, command grab. Very strong at that. Use it as part of your mixup
