Was running out of things to do in the main game, so I caved and took Explorer at Level 28. My build is kind of a mess at this point, because I started out as an unarmed/melee character for those achievements, then switched to explosives, finally settling on my standby guns/energy weapons.
Already done Boone, ED-E, Cass, the super mutant, and Rex's companion quests. Walking around with Veronica now.

For some reason when I am not playing it, it's all I want to do but when I start playing it I just want to stop because of how bland the landscape is and how tedious alot of the quests are.

Been trying to play New Vegas but the gunplay is fucking awful. Shots go in random directions, shotgun blasts have completely random spread and the damage on everything is so inconsistent
I've spent the better part of this afternoon standing 10-20 feet from enemies shooting at them with the Cowboy Repeater and I swear to fucking god the bullets are going in random directions or just outright deciding a shot "missed" like this is Morrowind.
This is at 60 Guns skill btw, and it doesn't feel any improvement over the 15 guns skill I started with.
I'm playing on console so it's possible there's some kind of bug, but for fuck's sake this is borderline unplayable.
Which really sucks because I'm loving every minute of this game that isn't combat.

I watch this on twitch to fall asleep to most nights. Chill as fuck, best soundtrack and atmosphere by far.

I can do that too with the Varmint Rifle, since that seems to be the only gun that has consistent ironsight aim
In all seriousness, I'll be crouched aiming down the sight on a target that isn't moving and have to shoot 3-4 times to get a hit. It feels out and out random, or like there's some mechanic or stat I'm missing.
I've tried using the chem that lowers weapon spread, it did nothing that I could tell

Jesus fucking Christ peep sights are worse than Hitler. They flat-out ruin half of the rifles in the game for me that I would otherwise use. Who thought it was a good idea to make it so that you can only see two pixels of what you're aiming at?
converted my new vegas into DUST and other game overhauls NV is fucked dont wanna reinstall it yet holiday sale coming soon fallout 4 was a dissapointment

Started playing again and honestly can't tell if when I played New Vegas I just missed 90% of the shit the first time or the expansions add way more shit to the wasteland.
Did the original game have like the bitter springs refugee camp and the enclave bunker and shit? I honestly can't remember any of that stuff.

Toasterfag here, I cannot relate to your problem at all. I can snipe bloat flies and Cazadores with less than 25 guns on any pistol or non-automatic rifle. Any time I miss it's mostly my fault.
Shotguns naturally suck shit at sniping, so you use slugs and get some perks and up your guns.
VATS is another thing though, cause VATS blows chunks at sniping without lots of skill and perk investment. I don't see a point in using it for any sniper build at all besides close range so you don't have to line shit up.

How can you miss with energy weapons though? Their spread is so tiny you don't need sights at all. You can snipe in 3rd person no problem, and with ones like laser rifle or YCS even hipfire snipe non bloatfly/cazadore type enemies.

Plasma weapons miss because they are slow and you can't guide your shots as easily. That has nothing to do with ironsights or whatever excuse this thread has. The spread itself is still tiny compared to shotguns or smgs or automatics.
EW are basically cheat guns, though plasma I admit is a bit harder, since I don't really understand their purpose.

The only thing plasma has going for it is fitting aesthetics for Meltdown, and you can fix that with a mod.

peep sights are actually really good IRL. I think the only game to get them somewhat right is Brothers in Arms. The idea is that it draws your eyes to the center of the sight instead of having to do more lining up with an open sight.

I'm halfway through Old World Blues, but stopped playing two weeks ago. I love the main game, but Dead Money and OWB have both given me the absolute shits. Honest Hearts was okay due to the decent characters and the Survivalist caches having a great story to them. I just want to get back to the wasteland dammit and maybe push towards a conclusion after the 80 hours I've spent on other things.
