The Elite Dangerous developers released a "New game" called Elite Dangerous: Frontiers, which should have been an update, and are making people that bought Elite Dangerous pay $40+ for what should have been a free update.

Actually, it's not. ED: Horizons comes with the base game plus the Horizons expansion. It's the only way for owners who bought vanilla ED is to pay $60 to get the expansion. There's no reason why it shouldn't be much cheaper for those who bought vanilla ED
