To be honest, I feel like there's more good JRPGs on DS and 3DS than Playstation or Wii, but we don't have 3DS emulation yet. Otherwise I would have more recommendations

Played around 2/3 of both Nocturne and DDS. It was kinda fun but there's just too much tedium in them so I got burned out.
Played through P4G and P3FES
I've played through FF7, FF10, FF10-2, FF12 and the FF13 trilogy.
I'd love to continue with other Final Fantasies but I have issues with PS1 emulation and right now I don't have the drive to start anything pre FF7

Try the FF3 remake, it was released on like every platform ever, including a PC port. It's old school FF but the remastered music and the 3D environments and character models give it the kind of charm that the PS1 FF games had. Definitely worth a play

DON'T start with 10. I played it on release and I hated it. It made me dislike the series and I haven't played any FF games until 2010 when a friend convinced me to play FFV.
Start with IV, V or VI. You'll have to play them anyway and they're pretty good. iOS/Steam 2D versions of V and VI are awesome (VI is getting released on Steam this night) and IV plays nice on GBA.

It's a good turn based RPG that introduced the ATB system the PS1 FFs had and the story is very good to boot.
You can go from VI or VII, or IX from there

Yeah. Though the sprites of the characters suck, monsters and landscape are just higher res gba graphics. Also, spells look nice. Too bad IV didn't get a Steam 2D release.

Its just the immersion into that world that makes getting ripped out of the experience so painful at the end, to me at least. I get way too invested into this stuff sometimes.

Well thats a completely different niche. Don't expect any good characters, story or world building from this. The premise is good but thats about it, everything else is retarded.

SMT games have weak stories in general, and one dimensional characters. A longer ending scene wouldn't improve things by much.

Very serious story about the horrors of warfare and how to react to it, The gameplay is akin to Crisis Core, but you choose 3 out of a 12 characters to go on missions with.
Each character uses a unique style and weapon.
My personal favorites to take on missions were:
King, who uses duel revolvers
Seven, who uses a whip
Eight, who uses gauntlets and punches shit to death.
So is this game worth finishing? If so what is it that makes it a great game?
People used to hype it up a lot when it came out and I found it dirt cheap at the resale shop near my house. I just couldn't get in to it though. The dialogue and story seemed pretty bad.

Yeah, you can switch between them in the middle of fights, and if they die during combat and you can't rez them in time, you can call in back up characters to take their place.
I recommend always having a ranged character with you party so you can kill the soldiers who are on ledges or in windows.

Same unit of measurement, Zemuria Stones are a thing, Poms exist, and that's pretty much it. They're otherwise dissimilar in all but one way.Both Nayuta and the normal series are really fun.

The first one is better. You're right the story's terrible, and it only gets shoved in your face more and more as the game goes on.
The gameplay is mostly the same, but moves much faster due to you being able to run and exploit enemy attack patterns. There is almost no story in the first though, so if the dungeon crawling and music don't hook you, nothing else will.

I think this game was meant for a younger audience in general. I tried it, and everything about it was simple and fairytale-ish. Some stories can appeal to all ages for different reasons, but DC2 wasn't one of them.
