Smash has been a FE shilling machine since Melee. If Fates had been released on the west people would've expected him to get included.
It's weird, I've been thinking the newcomers were a real mixed bag but looking at them all lined up like that I realize my opinion is only being dragged down by Dark Pit and the ridiculous amount of Fire Emblem characters. All the others are decent choices at worst.
I started losing my shit when I saw the FE Fates stuff hit and I was hoping for a swerve, but when Corrin got locked in, it was just the best middle finger Sakurai could give fans.
I'm happy Lucina got in, but she really should have split with Marth much like Robin and Corrin do with their female counterparts. I don't think she needed to be her own character.

-Villager: Fuck yes. A great choice and a fun character to play as.
-Mega Man: Another excellent choice. An awesome character who is faithful to his series.
-Wii Fit Trainer: A joke character. Smash has had them before. Pretty funny. Their moveset isn't my cup of tea, though.
-Roaslina & Luma: Not the best choice around. Moveset is pretty cool, though.
-Little Mac: Hell yeah motherfucker. One of my most wanted newcomers, and he plays great. Probably the best Nintendo newcomer.
-Greninja: Literally who? At least he is fun to play as. Go ninja, go ninja, go.
-Mii Fighters: Could have been handled a lot worse. Pretty glad they didn't fuck it up. Overall a fun addition.
-Palutena: As a Kid Icarus fan, it was hard to be upset by this. Shame her base moveset is fucking trash.
-Pac-Man: Pic Related. Also has a fun moveset.
-Robin: If we were going to get any new FE character, it should have been just Robin. A mage is a neat concept for a character. Personally, I suck shit playing as them though.
-Shulk: Never played Xenoblade Chronicles, but he's a fun and interesting character and people wanted him in so I didn't mind.
-Bowser Jr.: Upset at first but then I saw the moveset and was sold. Great new addition.
-Duck Hunt: A really neat little inclusion that most people gloss over. Really fun character and I'm glad he made it in.
-Attack of the Clones: At first I was really pissed, but honestly they were all made into characters last minute so it's fine.
-Ryu: Really neat character. Playstyle is really fun and he is easily one of the most polished 3rd Party characters in the game.
-Cloud: The most shocking newcomer. Came out of fucking nowhere, and I'm glad he is in the game. Looking forward to playing as him tonight.
-Corrin: LITERALLY WHO?! The most disappointing newcomer. Another FE character, really? But at least they look fun to play as.
-Bayonetta: Another shocking newcomer. The fact that Bayo is in an E10+ game is a miracle. Can't wait for her to come out.

Mii Fighters - I fully expected them, and Sakurai handled them nicely. Sucks that they can't be used online with anyone though.
Palutena - Meh.Even the porn she got after her reveal wasn't enough.
Pac-Man - Super-obvious since Bamco was involved, but thank fucking god he isn't based off the redesign.
Robin, Lucina, Corrin - I didn't want any of this shit, especially since FE now has six fucking reps (tied with Pokemon).
Shulk - I didn't want him either, but his Monado gimmick is pretty cool.
Bowser Jr. - A good choice for a Mario rep, especially with the Koopaling alts.
Duck Hunt - It's nice to finally see that game get some recognition again, and the dog is as annoying as ever.
Ryu - Deserved it, since he's one of the most iconic characters in fighting game history.
Cloud - Never cared about him, plus he has almost no involvement with Nintendo whatsoever.

DH has one of my favorite movesets ever. Him and Shulk were the only characters I wanted in this game. Shulk's moveset reflects him nicely and his British voice acting is still there thank god. DH's moveset doesn't really match him, but I guess if it did, all he'd do is laugh. Maybe I'm thinking of the Laughing Dog rather than the concept of the actual NES zapper being the character.

Corrin looks fun and actually plays different to the other sword fighters because dragon. Robin is the closest we're going to get a mage and is pretty damn fun. You guys are just pissed your choice didn't get in, doesn't make these characters bad. Except for the whole Marth and his 3 clones.
