I think its more representative of how they treat their franchises. EA only gives those games out for free because they think the franchises are worthless pieces of shit that they can close the development studio at any time they want because they only care about the games launching the current year.

See, I've been wondering now if that claim that Nintendo can go so many decades not making a profit and still survive, is only because of their high prices on just about anything they shit out - and more specifically the fact that prices never drop. I was trying to pick up Pokemon Sapphire for the 3DS and it's still $40. I bet if Nintendo begun sales and discounts like Microsoft, steam, even Rare with their Replay bundle, they wouldn't last a year in the current market
