Why were the 90's the golden era for JRPGs? Why has no jrpg made after then come close to the glory and splendour of the 90's era JRPGs?

Some people consider the 80's the best era for JRPG's, what with games like Wizardy and Dragon Quest
There is also the new generation who will consider the 2000's and the advent of the AJRPG to be their "golden era"
modern jrpgs are ok, there was a period of time in the early 00s where almost everything was awful

I think the game is overrated but it's still better than 90% of jrpgs out there. Good art direction, very nice music, story is wacky and entertaining. There's so many awful fucking jrpgs and lumping FFVI with them is just stupid.

Oh, shit, really? I was just messing around, but it's nice that it turned out this way. IV actually sort of IS the standard JRPG, but it's still pretty darn good. Generic, sure, but it DID set a standard, you know? Gotta count for something.
VI and V are the best in the series in my opinion, I'd recommend them over IV any day.

Like, I would call late 90s early 2000's a golden era for FPS's since for the most part since then we have regressed. But there are still jrpg's released that makes IV look like a lazy RPG Maker game.
