Is Mass Effect 3 worth playing? I played 1 and 2 but I cancelled my preorder for 3 when the word came out that they soiled the ending. Is it at least worth pirating?
If you've got nothing better to play then go for it.
/v/ likes to pretend everything about it was a travesty. The fact of the matter is that the ending is pretty much the only thing BioWare fucked up.
The game itself is still fun to play.
Sure, it's worth a pirate if you want to see how the series ties up the major plots. Install MEHEM so you don't have to subject yourself to the vanilla ending.

Yeah I played the demo a while back and the gameplay is fun at least. I just would rather pirate it and not have to deal with EA's shitty DRM.

I'd say it's worth at least one play through, as long as you remember that you're going to be disappointed at the end. The combat is much more polished, though, and they didn't fuck up too bad on the DLC.
And if you're a big fan of the series, pick up Citadel, finish the game, then go back and finish it. The Citidel ending is a much better ending than the actual ending to ME3.
