Do you remember this shit?

A third party Xbox 360 case in order to keep the 360 from frying itself.

Did it work? Is it worth anything nowadays?

Most people who post on /v/ weren't old enough to remember the red ring of death problems the early 360s had

Anyone else notbuytheconsole trick?

I was going to get a 360 to play anarchy reigns but realized I'd have to spend money each month to play online and it is liable to brick, so I got a PS3 anyways.

Kind of glad to, cause I then got to play godhand and fat princess(which is something I brought up in the "ps3 has no games" argument(ps4 is shit though)).

I remember.

I bought myself a used 360 Core from TigerDirect for my twentieth birthday. It was the very first model that didn't even have an HDMI port, so you had to use component or VGA cables for high-def vidya.

It RRODed, Microsoft fixed it for free, and it still works to this day.
>>
I still have my launch-day 360, never had to send it out to service.
>>

I made a fortune in high school, charging kids $50 a pop to fix their RRODs. They didn't know that Microsoft would do it for free.
>>
>tfw my 2005 360 lasted until 2013 when i decided to buy the E model

Microsoft Canada was the best for broken 360s.

>send in broken 360
>get replacement 360
>original 360 returned
>never asked for replacement back
>replacement breaks
>send it in
>rinse and repeat

I had 6 360s

I'm willing to bet that most RRoD cases were people enclosing their 360s inside of entertainment centers with little or no airflow.

I very rarely hear of people getting one RRoD, it's usually a string of them. That's where it sounds like user error to me. Not saying there isn't some faulty manufacturing, the components were held together with the effectiveness of chewed up gum.

>tfw you come home to play Perfect Dark Zero and PGR4 and you get this

I went through 3 Xbox's from RROD, luckily it came with a 12 month warranty.

>Towel trick

Or, since you're refusing to RMA it anyway, you could open the fucking thing and apply a whole 50 mg of solder, which is all the "towel trick" was replicating.

Or let me guess, you dumb kids can't manage to solder shit these days, right? Gotta pay Ranjeet at Geek Squad for such basic tasks now?

I did while I waited on microsoft to send the box

I used this thing called a "fan". I kept it behind my 360 and turned it on every time I used my 360. Had the same 360 for three years and practically never turned it off.
