You aren't missing out on much. You can get more or less the same experience by having your GTA character wear a cowboy hat.

Nah, RDR feels like a complete different experience. And meanwhile in GTA you usually go from morally grey to bad, in RDR you try to do the right thing, besides the setting giving other choices and actions you couldn't do in GTA. And great story about how everyone ends up paying for what they did, and how you can't escape your past.
