Lies. Disinterest prevents you from enjoying video games. Indecision and compulsiveness prevent you from enjoying video games.
>>
>>320163869
I don't pirate, but being able to scoop up games for dirt cheap on a steam sale directly correlates to cheapening the experience with a game imo. I never had a backlog til I switched to PC.

I just have too many games to play, I can't commit to one and give it the attention it deserves.
>>
>>320164598
That's wrong though. I might pirate a game a feel like I'm wasting my time because if I buy it I'll have to start over, or just won't have any interest in the game.

Then after buying the game for 4.99 it feels great, I want to do everything, and have way more fun. Hell I'm sure paying 1$ on a humble bundle makes me enjoy the games a lot more.
>>
>>320164876
>after buying the game for 4.99 it feels great
It's because you're autist. Once i felt on this myth /v/ came up with, bought a lot of games i enjoyed while on piracy and bought a lot i never played before. Made no diference for me.

Because as someone who played vidya since childhood, I really feel as though I made a bad choice with this being my hobby.

God I wish I took up something else. Anything would have been an improvement over modern games. Atleast I have old classics I guess.

>How did the communit become so terrible, and actively enabling devs fucking us in the ass?

But that's absolutely wrong, anon. Not even debatably wrong like the other points made in this discussion, but factually, 100%, inarguably, objectively incorrect. I regularly buy games after I pirate them. I have never once had an issue where a save file would not work in the legitimately purchased version of the game.

There are a lot of reasons to enjoy something more after paying for it.

That after every single game I don't feel satisfied, I just feel overwhelmingly sad. When I fully commit to a game and the characters I'm happy. When the credits roll I feel like I'm in a movie theater and I know that after all of this I'm going back to a meaningless existence.

It is part of our psychology. You might not be aware of it, and it might not really noticeably affect you individually, but it does have that affect.

Yeah, but because I grew up with a world without dlc and other bullshit, I dont defend it.
You have people defending shit being stuck at 30fps, or being unplayable due to bugs.

This never happened before. It's a modern problem, and it's the cancer killing vidya.
Fuck it's probably why letsplays are a thing with kids, games are so linear and uninteractive, that people can just watch otehrs play them and get the same experience.
>>
>>320170431
>There are a lot of reasons to enjoy something more after paying for it.
no. not at all. this is just illogical and irrational thinking. you lie yourself basically. you force yourself to have fun because you paid for something. it is like watching a really bad movie to the end of it because you pay for it.

You have two options, either it ends and you feel sad it's over. Or it never ends, and you wish it would die without shambling along like a zombie, a husk of what it was.
Also visuals novels are far worse than this. Mainly Higurashi (Or Umineko if you actually liked it) becauseit was saying goodbye to a cast of characters you were seeing for around 100 hours.

You're right. Human behavior isn't always rational, but it doesn't mean people don't still think and feel that way, nor does it mean that you can just think about it rationally and the feeling will entirely disappear. We don't work like that.

Nah, you're just a stupid good goy. Gaming has been in the gutter for years. I used to pirate quite frequently, now it's rare if i pirate 3 games per year, but then again the ones i pirate i end up buying and fill me with joy knowing that there are developers out there that still has the love and passion that build up what it later become this huge garbage industry.

tldr Acquire better tastes and learn to filter games better through more refined judgement.

Sorry you have to fight your buyers remorse with your delusion over the quality of the game.

And just to be clear, it's not like i'm a hardcore shitposter that don't play videogames, i just replay old games. There are a lot of gold stuff that you can cycle through them and when you go full circle the old game is still pretty damn fresh.
>>
>>320170687

The fact that there is now so many people posting this kind of thing though: how games are designed to be effectivly broken in design now (pay more later guise and maybe it'll be good!) should prove how bad its got

It's all just a buisness life cycle: they'll keep pushing for more money for the product until people will no longer pay. Then a few of the cunts will go bust, the rest will notice, and things will settle down to something sensible. Right now I think we are starting to see a tipping point.

Console gamer turned PC gamer here. I was sick of the console wars and I was glad to be out of it. But shortly after building my first budget-build computer, I had people telling me my 750ti was a "meme card" and that I should have "spent more to get a good card". Two years later, I'm upgrading. New motherboard, new CPU and a 970 (the best I could afford) and once again, I'm getting people saying "spend more to get the better card", "what, don't you know the 980 is better?", "3.5 meme card". The 980 is $200 more in Vegemiteland, I just can't justify spending another $200 on something which I've already spent a considerable amount of money on.

I know a lot of PC gamers are delusional enough to think we're all best buds and stick together just because of our chosen platform. But we aren't. Now, instead of people judging me for my choice between 3 consoles, I get people judging me for my choice between hundreds of thousands of component combinations. Fuck you all.
