The setting and theme are cool, but Jesus this game feels like it's a good 4 years behind. If it wasn't restricted to the WiiU perhaps it might have been decent.
Most JRPGs are style over substance. That's why it's a niche, dying genre - with the exception of the mainstream Final Fantasy of course.

JRPG games are designed for girls and little children. Basically for people who can't play normal fast paced difficult and challenging games with complex gameplay. JRPGs want give children and girls that sense of accomplishment, winning or mastering something, basically things that normal games give to normal people.
