Thank god you can use one of the dozens of weapon repairs kit the game throws at you, or you can equip one of the only slightly inferior swords you can afford to carry around because they weigh literally nothing

I went to Isle of Mists around level 26, only did a couple of sidequests after that and ended the game almost at level 35. There's a lot of main quests after finding Ciri and they give a ton of xp.
