Also I only included one Mega Man sub series as most of them are still platformers and Battle Network is the furthest away from the original series.
Is AAI 2 worth playing? Or more importantly, do I need to have beaten the first one? I fucking love the AA franchise but goddamn AAI bored me after the first few investigations and I have no interest in beating it, but I hear AAI 2 is amazing

I don't like the Mystery Dungeon games too much. I feel that it removes the challenge of intelligently designed dungeons and puzzles that I look for in a dungeon crawler.

The Mystery Dungeon series (and I mean all MD games like Torneko et all not just Pokemon), not just and other such roguelikes, are randomly generated and don't have much in the way of puzzles. If you want dungeons with thought put into their design and puzzles play Zelda.

You don't need to play the first one, Playing the main series is a lot more important as far as recurring characters go except for Kay I guess.
And yes AAI2 is probably the best AA game besides 3 and maybe 1.

It kind of depends. There are a lot of reoccurring major characters, so I'd say it's worth sitting through the first one.
But yeah, AAI2 is amazing. Easily one of my favorites.
