Just started playing EDF2/Global Defense Force on the PSP. I'm really digging the gameplay but the tunnel stage and the queen ant is kicking my shit in. Any tips for tackling this mission?EDF thread

Don't stay in that narrow tunnel. She blows some weird shit that kills everything standing right in the tunnel. Go out into the open where the queen is.
Been thinking of getting EDF2 for Vita but don't know how well it plays. Anyone here played it and can tell how bad is the frame rate and fog of war.

How do i move faster as a ranger? I never played an EDF game before and i heard there is some trick to moving fast.

You might be thinking of the Fencer class in 2025 and the dash cancelling trick. For the Ranger, the most you can do is just keep rolling.

This flamethrower is pretty good. It has a long range and large ammo capacity, and because its projectiles cut through enemies and bounce off walls, its very useful for the tight tunnels in underground levels. I don't know if the Vita version has it or rebalanced it because it seems a bit overpowered.

Any word on shareplay working with EDF4.1? It might be a decent way to get people to buy it if I can just demo them the full game as my virtual split-screen buddy.

I think the Lyzander Z does only 7000 damage per shot so it's not that ridiculous, but it does have a higher rate of fire than the Stringer series.

From what I see, online is busy at all hours for EDF 4.1. It's a pretty decent community.

What a lovely game. I'll be picking up 4.1 if/when I ever get a PS4.
The only major flaw is that the soundtrack is super bland. Some memorable tracks would have added a lot to the atmosphere.

I played 2025 and beat it alone on Normal and Hard, I'm on Very Hard on Mission 15-16 IIRC but I play it awfully slow nowadays because I got really pissed about how the game handles the weapons. I tried to grind on Inferno, I believe I did the first 5 missions and barely got anything worth a damn.
I play Ranger and usually go with the AF20, one sniper rifle called Five Cards something (lvl48) and Goliath II (lvl50).

If you want a higher chance of getting the best weapons, grind the late levels. Sometimes grinding a late level on Hardest is better than grinding one of the first levels on Inferno. Try mission 77 on Hardest. It's a somewhat relaxed sniping mission so it should be manageable with that five cards rifle, though it may take a while.

I couldn't take the grind in 2025 after I finished all the missions & just edited my save with everything.
Made trying to pass inferno on each mission a lot more fun.

Good idea, I'll try that the next time I play. IIRC the stuff I currently have that I mentioned previously was obtained playing online co-op on Hardest (between missions 20-30).
Shame I don't see a lot of people playing 2025 online on PS3.

I just got to Mission 78 and I'm getting my asshole annihilated. I don't even know what to do beyond maybe go to a higher difficulty and grind for a more destructive weapon. I really don't want to do that though, it'll feel like cheating.
