I think I'm shit at this game. I'm having trouble with the Jaegar that you run into after waking up trying to get out of the forest. I'm taking too much damage and I'm not dishing out enough.

SC literally starts less than 24 hours after FC, it's not like FF series. You don't want to start it without playing FC because nothing will make sense.

Honestly, I didn't find SC as mindblowing as /v/ made it out to be, but I still really liked it.
Beat it two days ago. Loved it although chapter 8 kinda dragged and I felt like I was forcing myself to get through it. Looking forward to cold steel now.

It does. There's another stretch towards the end with more backtracking but the bulk of the game is still new stuff, and it will get intense, believe me. Its all build up and it pays off nicely

I was really interested in the story and loved the cliffhanger of the first game's ending, but that was such a long time ago that I just completely lost interest in finding out what happens. I'll probably just end up looking up a plot summary to save time.
CP is the most retarded system ever. Did they improve on it in the sequels?

3rd lets you restore CP fully every 5 battles in garden of recluse. Zero and Ao have some crafts that restore it + attacking with attacks and spells actually give CP back unlike the sora games. Sen gives you way too much CP healing through crafts and spells.

I thought Olivier was meant to be the offensive caster of the party, but at some point, Schera just completely outclassed him in ATS. I guess from certain equipment. Who has the highest base ATS? Who has the highest potential with equipment/orbments factored in?
Also, in Hard mode, every enemy's defense is just way too high, physical damage is almost useless without buffing, and even then it's still about as much as arts.

Olivier has higher base ATS but Schera can surpass him with the female only equipment that has a ton of ATS on it, plus her speed stat is higher.
She has two wind locked points though and Olivier doesn't.

With how shitty the defense is on ATS equipment you're going to have Schera near death from any attack.
And defense does do shit. If you give Josette the Aura Guard during the rescue mission she'll be taking half the damage from everything that the rest of your party will be at 15 levels lower. Still speed > ats anyway.
I finished it like a week after it came out.

FC and SC are a story by itself but it ends alluding to the Crossbell Duology. There is no other cliffhanger aside from that and a loose end with Renne. The reason why Falcom keeps using "3rd" instead of TC is for that reason. 3rd itself is its own story with everyone returning and has backstory as well as a major door for Ouroboro's giant plot.
