gameplay's trash compared to bastion; final boss was a gimmick and everyone sucked supergiant's dick for it.

i just wanted another bastion; transistor was a true disappointment
>>
Decent.

Worst than bastion in every way though

fuck off with your lies; bastion has:

>weapon upgrades/combos
>challenges that actually give you something worthwhile
>upgrade and configure the bastion as you see fit
>gameplay doesn't devolve into "run for your life in circles while your turn meter recharges because you can't attack while it charges and everything will melt you"
>longer than transistor
>world fleshed out better; setting has more meat to it
>music's better
>>

>Bastion was more of a game, but Transistor is more of a game.
The fuck is that supposed to mean?
>>
>>320005856
Really liked Bastion, fucking loved Transistor. It's both more flawed and more ambitious and somehow for all the things it got undoubtedly right (visuals, music, new combat system) I gained a deep appreciation for that game.
>>
>>320009808
Transistor has most of those things as well though
>>
>>320009808
this

Playing with all 10 idols activated was really tense and felt really rewarding

also Bastion NPC Crew > one talking sword
>>
>>320005856
It was boring as hell though, gameplay and story wise, I couldn't wait to finish and be done with it once and for all.
Nice artwork and music though.
>>
Way too fucking short.

It was an okay game but pales in comparison to Bastion in both quantity and quality.

yfw We All Become basically spoils the whole story in the first few minutes of the game. Bit by bit it comes true and then at the end when your in the country you're like HOLY SHIT but you don't actually say it cause Red's mute.
>>
>>320009808
>weapon upgrades/combos
The hell? Transistor offers way more skill synergy and even more loadout possibilites.
>challenges that actually give you something worthwhile
Transistor was lacking encounters, no argument here.
>upgrade and configure the bastion as you see fit
That's literally just something that Bastion has because you build an actual bastion. Why should they just repeat it? Transistor had its own combat and skill system.
>gameplay doesn't devolve into "run for your life in circles while your turn meter recharges because you can't attack while it charges and everything will melt you"
You can build enough loadouts that don't need the pause function.
>longer than transistor
True.
>world fleshed out better; setting has more meat to it
Nah, the only thing Transistor did arguably worse in this regard is exposition.
>music's better
Wow.
>>
>>320009981
the challenges give, what, music? unrewarding. and you literally have to play the game several times if you want full access to all the skills (modify one skill with itself).

>>320010115
i forgot all about the idols; those may be the best way i've ever seen a game handle difficulty modes

>>
>>320009808
Transistor's OST > Bastion OST
I agree with your other points thio
>>
>>320007650
I agree with you.

Real-time combat was unsatisfying and unbearably slow, so you had no choice but to rely on the "turn" mechanic because not only did it freeze time, but it also dilated time when you executed your commands such that Red moved relatively faster than enemies.

i.e. "turn" was forced on you and the game consisted of waiting for it to regen and executing the same effective but bland combos ad nauseum.

Bastion, by contrast had excellent, engaging real-time combat that rewarded skillful timing (e.g. the clockwork carbine) and other things you'd expect of an action game.
>>

>>
>>320005856
It was okay. Story didn't really make a whole lot of sense and I didn't care for the characters, but it had some nice visuals and the gameplay was okay.

I prefer Bastion though.
>>
Great title, only issue I had was not being able to replay stuff, like final boss' battle or challenges. Better than Bastion when it comes to fighting system due to sheer amount of combinations and setups you can make. I love both of them though, next time these guys release something like that again I'm buying at release.
>>
I didn't feel it was too short.
Given its cost, it was fine for me. There are full priced AAA games that don't last this long and certainly aren't anywhere near as good.

I suppose it's from the precedent Bastion set, but still, I see it as quality > quantity.
>>
>>320011384
The story made a lot of sense. It just wasn't given much depth
>>
Probably in the minority here, but I didn't really care for Transistor's soundtrack. Not that Bastion was anything amazing, but it did have some pretty neat songs, like Spike in a Rail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQWAcgefsQQ&ab_channel=outphase52 or Brusher patrol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYaFbFLAQlQ&ab_channel=outphase52

this.

I still don't know if I like Bastion or Transistor more.

I liked everything about transistor better but also feel like they wasted quite some potential while Bastion feels more "complete",in a way that I wouldn't want it to do something different

good ideas, bad execution

being forced to use bad combinations to unlock lore is fucking stupid

when you finally start having enough functions and memory to play around the game ends

limiter rewards are meaningless, no incentive at all to use them

how the fuck the Camerata lost something as important as the transistor to an unarmed couple?
>>
>>320026385
I mostly agree except for the lore thing, you only need to mess around with each setting a few times before unlocking the lore, and I've seen worse incentives for switching strategies

everything else is spot-on though and the game should have been 1.5x as long with more boss fights like Sybil

>>320005856

Sybil said you would be alone when the time came for the Camerata to approach you, and you weren't.
Your husbandu gets in the way and takes the Transistor right in the gut, takes control of it, and teleports the both of you away from the Camerata.
That's how they lost the Transistor to an unarmed couple.
>>
I absolutely loved the modular combat, and the pseudo turn based system. Running out of Turn at a bad time led to a lot of fun strategies for different fights, and I appreciated the NG+ having actual upgrades to enemies and not just a health spike.

That said, I felt the narrative was pretty weak and I didn't care about Red as much as I cared about the Kid relative to the endings of both this and Bastion. Felt next to nothing when she killed herself.

I loved everything about Royce, though. His VA did an excellent job with the voice and I felt his character and goals were the clearest. Plus that boss fight, goddamn.
